  1. Real nice get for Minnesota as the recent pipeline from Shattuck to the Gophers seems to just get stronger. Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch 12m 99 F Scott Reedy (SSM U14) commits to Minnesota. Huge in-state get for the Gophers. Elite playmaker at 6'0, 180 with speed and poise.
  2. No chance, he decided to come back early in the off-season and he isn't the type of guy that would put the Sioux in the position they would be in if he were to leave now.
  3. Looks like we could lose another one before he even gets to campus but if that is the way he really feels than I'm not sure he really belongs here. Mike Morreale ‏@mikemorrealeNHL 17m Def Ryan Mantha of Indiana Ice (@USHL) said whichever team drafts him will determine his fate: Either the UofNorth Dakota or Sault St. Marie Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch 11m North Dakota recruit Ryan Mantha says he'll take the CHL route if the NHL team that drafts him dictates as such. H/T @mikemorrealeNHL
  4. I'm sure there are plenty of power conference teams who would do better in the tournament than some of these smaller conference schools but if they wanted the best 64 teams they wouldn't award autobids to some of the conferences that they do and would only invite who the committee felt was the top 64 teams in the nation regardless of conference.
  5. If I got to start a franchise and could have 1 player to start it right now my choice would have to be Toews, just such a great all around player.
  6. Correct a former Bulldog and native Minnesotan from the iron range don't know why I was thinking he was a former Gopher. Looking at the group of free agent D there really aren't many great options so I would think Niskanen is in line for a real nice contract this summer.
  7. The guy who I think they could use the most and hope is their #1 priority is a former Bulldog and native Minnesotan in Matt Niskanen.
  8. Gaarder had played at a higher level of competition going into his senior year and definitely looked to have some potential while watching him at Edina. Gaarder also played 2 years of junior hockey after high school which is something Johannesson probably wouldn't be able to do that would help him develop more.
  9. Would be a good get for football but is nowhere close to being able to play hockey at UND right now.
  10. Montreal announces Price will be out for the series. Blues re-sign Brian Elliott to a 3 year deal meaning Ryan Miller probably won't be back with them.
  11. Boston definitely has some momentum going into the break with the late goal. I think it is very important for the Habs to get something going early in the 3rd on their powerplay and at the very least create some chances and break the momentum some.
  12. Yep which will make it even tougher for whoever Chicago ends up playing to steal one.
  13. Montreal has had a pretty good 1st period so far and have the 1-0 lead late in the 1st on a pretty nice play.
  14. Agree the Wild at the very least went punch for punch with the Hawks the entire series and it was a very even level of play and a series that really could have went either way but I think the Hawks have another level of play they can get to that they haven't shown in this postseason yet. Watching the Kings/Ducks series I would be surprised if the Hawks can't get by whichever team wins that series unless a goalie is able to steal a couple games.
  15. Just a bit of a different situation since the Wild were dominating the game against the Avs when they got the lucky carom goal and regardless if they got that goal or not it felt like the Wild had that game in control the whole time while when the Hawks got the lucky carom goal the Wild had played the stronger game and it felt like the Hawks really stole that one.
  16. The Wild really couldn't get a bounce tonight. This is another one of those games where the team that plays the best doesn't always win. The Hawks definitely have the makings of a team that can win the Stanley Cup again this year especially if Crawford can keep playing the way he has. The future looks bright for the Wild and hopefully after a few improvements this offseason they will be able to the next step next year.
  17. No shortage of quality chances for either team right now but both goalies coming up with big stops.
  18. Speed Kills!
  19. The Cooke hit wasn't even that bad he deserved a 2. Solid reaction from the Wild after the soft fluky goal, good pressure but gotta get more pucks and traffic to the net because Crawford looks very strong again. Biggest play of the 1st might have been by Brodin as he really saved the Wild from probably a 2-0 deficit with the great backcheck on Toews.
  20. Not sure on the percentage but I think he will have a tough time making it especially when you factor in DL is one of the stronger position groups for the Rams. Sam is gonna have to learn how to play special teams and play it very well if he wants to make an NFL roster. Sam has said he just wants to be judged as a football player but if/when the Rams cut him I fear that many will throw out the accusation that he wasn't only judged as a football player and that is the reason he got cut.
  21. Haha didn't even notice that, definitely not my way of thinking.
  22. There are some who would argue that he was only drafted because he is gay and I don't really agree with that but I guess that can go both ways. I can see a number of reasons he wasn't taken until the 7th round one is he is a classic tweener in that he isn't the size of a NFL DE and isn't athletic enough to play LB. Sam also really only had 1 good year of production which was last season. He had a bad Senior Bowl game and practice week as well as a real bad performance at the combine. I don't see Sam sticking with the Rams and I'm not sure he will translate real well to the NFL. I thought DE Jackson Jeffcoat should have been taken over Sam and I think he has a better chance of sticking in the NFL. There are also a number of prospects who should have been drafted on talent alone but character concerns and off the field problems pushed them to be undrafted free agents.
  23. Tough play, bad rebound by Bryz and Suter had to try to clear it and couldn't get enough on it and then Toews just overpowers Granlund for the goal. Bryzgalov was solid on the couple real good chances Chicago had but for the most part the Wild did a pretty good job of keeping them on the perimeter. Bryz definitely has trouble with rebound control and can get out of position but he has found a way to stop the puck and give the Wild a chance to win the last 3 and the thing I really like from him the past 3 games is how much more aggressive he is being in challenging shooters. I thought the Wild generated some good chances throughout and hit a few posts and the thing that worries me is that I think that was their chance to win one in Chicago and they missed out on it.
  24. Blackhawks hold on 2-1. Some good chances for the Wild late but Crawford was solid. I believe this is the first time in the 2nd round the team who scored first didn't end up winning the game. I thought the Wild played pretty well and would be surprised if this series isn't headed to a game 7 in Chicago. Really didn't like the line Yeo had on the ice at the end of the game with both Brodziak and Heatley on the ice.
  25. Wild with some decent pressure to start the 3rd but if Crawford can see it there is a pretty good chance he is gonna stop it and they haven't really got to any rebounds. Wild are gonna have to get stronger on D in front of the net because Bryzgalov has no control over where he is sending these rebounds.
