  1. Agreed LA hasn't been at its best yet and imo LA had a questionable call or two go against them in the OTs but they were still able to overcome that and get the win.
  2. When I watched him in the state tournament last year he had a power forward element but also had a good amount of skill. I know he isn't on the same level as Parks right now but that is kind of the type of player he has potential to be but maybe with a little more skill, I believe Mantha was supposed to come in next season but that is just by looking at how tough it would be for him to find ice time this season.
  3. That would be my guess as well.
  4. Seems to be different every year sometimes earlier and sometimes later. Last years class was released on May 17th and the year before was May 23rd.
  5. Don't recall if we ever heard anything definitive on whether Gersich was accelerating or not but could that be why they haven't announced the incoming recruits yet? Maybe waiting to see if Gersich will be able to come in this fall or not?
  6. I'd say McDonaugh, Girardi, and Staal are right up there with the top Chicago D but imo the depth of the Chicago D is better than the Rangers.
  7. Capgeek had Johnsson's NHL salary at $5.3, $4.8 cap hit and Barker's NHL salary at $6.0 over 2 years, $6.2 cap hit.
  8. Agree Leddy still needs to improve in his defensive zone to become a more consistent d-man but with the group the Wild threw out there this year he would have definitely been an upgrade over about half of them. The Heatley deal is probably the worst just because of the contract he had the last 2 years and how bad he was during most of that time. The Burns/Seto deal was actually pretty good for the Wild as they gave up Burns but got Seto, Coyle, and a 1st round pick that turned into prospect Zack Phillips, Fletcher also ended up getting a 2nd round pick from the Jets for Seto as well.
  9. Capgeek says $5.3 million but $4.85 for the salary cap hit, any idea on Barker's +/-? I don't think his offense was really his problem as much as how terrible he was in the d zone.
  10. Yes I know the trade and I as well as most Wild fans hated it when it happened. It was Kim Johnsson who was included and while his contract was bad he was off the books at the end of the year. Barker had already been a bust by the time the Wild got him and Leddy was a rising prospect at the time of the trade which left most Wild fans puzzled.
  11. The Havlat for Heatley deal for me is pretty much a wash but I am very glad they get Heatley's contract off the books this year. I'd say the Wild got an absolute steal in the Burns deal, Burns for Setoguchi, Coyle, and a 1st rounder which turned into prospect Zach Phillips and then later Setoguchi was traded to the jets for a 2nd round pick.
  12. He may have been lost some of the time but I'm sure the Wild would gladly take back that trade and take Leddy back. If not for that trade I don't know if I could find a move that Chuck Fletcher made that was truly horrible.
  13. Real tough goal for the Hawks to lose on but it seems like you see that kinda goal a lot in OT and gotta feel for Nick Leddy trying to help his goalie out by blocking the shot and bounces off him and in.
  14. If this series hasn't been good enough already now we get an overtime in game 7
  15. Chris Dilks ‏@ChrisDilks 7m Rogers HS '98 D Matt Hellickson has committed to Notre Dame. Will play for NTDP U17s next season. Real nice player was hoping he would end up at UND. Aside from UND and the Minnesota schools Notre Dame seems to be the other school that really has success recruiting high end Minnesota kids.
  16. The big time Florida schools are struggling in the tourney as #2 national seed Florida and #5 national seed Florida State were eliminated after going 0-2 and the other big Florida school Miami will have to try to work their way back through the losers bracket if they want to move on. I think Sac St. could have a decent chance of beating Poly as the ESPNU guys said Poly's Sunday starter has been spotty all year and they do lack a little bit of pitching depth.
  17. Agreed Coach Q is great at adjustments and it always seems other teams are forced to play to the Blackhawk's style while the Blackhawk's don't often get caught having to play another teams style. LA also had a couple fortunate bounces last night that resulted in goals too like the 3rd goal when a pass went off the skate of a Blackhawk and bounced right to Doughty and he took it and scored so the bounces went both ways. Just a great game all the way around though last night and I kind of wish LA and Chicago could just make this series something like a best of 15 for the finals.
  18. Great game and what an overtime with so much back and forth action. Handzus will get the attention for the game winner and rightfully so but Saad made a real nice play to get him the puck there and definitely deserves a lot of credit too.
  19. I'd bet a pretty good amount of money he was a prospective Sioux recruit he just didn't become a committed Sioux recruit. The 2 schools do recruit a lot of the same kids and this was one of the top '99 recruits in the U.S. so it is a pretty safe guess that there was interest from the Sioux.
  20. What are the chances we find out after the Hawks season ends Crawford has been playing hurt during the LA series? He was outstanding against the Blues and Wild but has looked pretty average and at times below average against LA although his team in front of him hasn't done a whole lot to limit LA either and deserves plenty of blame as well.
  21. Real nice get for Minnesota as the recent pipeline from Shattuck to the Gophers seems to just get stronger. Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch 12m 99 F Scott Reedy (SSM U14) commits to Minnesota. Huge in-state get for the Gophers. Elite playmaker at 6'0, 180 with speed and poise.
  22. No chance, he decided to come back early in the off-season and he isn't the type of guy that would put the Sioux in the position they would be in if he were to leave now.
  23. Looks like we could lose another one before he even gets to campus but if that is the way he really feels than I'm not sure he really belongs here. Mike Morreale ‏@mikemorrealeNHL 17m Def Ryan Mantha of Indiana Ice (@USHL) said whichever team drafts him will determine his fate: Either the UofNorth Dakota or Sault St. Marie Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch 11m North Dakota recruit Ryan Mantha says he'll take the CHL route if the NHL team that drafts him dictates as such. H/T @mikemorrealeNHL
  24. I'm sure there are plenty of power conference teams who would do better in the tournament than some of these smaller conference schools but if they wanted the best 64 teams they wouldn't award autobids to some of the conferences that they do and would only invite who the committee felt was the top 64 teams in the nation regardless of conference.
  25. If I got to start a franchise and could have 1 player to start it right now my choice would have to be Toews, just such a great all around player.
