I'm thinking that Coach K. will bring about a slow but steady improvement in the D this season and then, as his system/changes become ingrained, we'll be a middle-of-the Big Sky D next season, and one of the top defenses in the BSC by 2015. He'll have to add 2 or 3 (top) new parts each season in order to accomplish that.
-
Don't you think he deserves at least a full season? He was one of the best special teams coaches in FCS, deserved the promottion to DC, and I think he deserves more than 3 games to prove that he can turn our defense around. And I think he will.

South's roster lists Johannesson at 210 lbs. and I don't doubt that he's an FBS prospect after Saturday's performance. The radio announcer was almost in awe.

Thanks for taking the time to listen to, and respond to, the concerns of the die-hard Sioux fans that frequent this website. I believe that your department is doing an excellent job and will continue to strive to improve the regional/national exposure of UND athletics.

41-38 Sioux; Zeb with the game-winner. We're going to feel the absence of Goodman, Walker, Ratelle, and Stanchik if they don't play if for no other reason than it gives us less depth in a game where it's going to be needed.
-
Likewise. When you live too far away to get to most of the games, it's a great alternative.
-
Another Bobcat tweeter says that 9 of their original 2-deep are out indefinitely/for the season. Wow.
-
Thanks. I agree, many of the skill positions look loaded for some time to come.
-
geaux_sioux, what kind of upside do you see for Fletcher down the road? Losing Hardin and Townsend after this season, we'll have to somewhat reload. Don't mean to compare the two, but his build seems to be similar to Golladay's.
-
We DID have a platoon at running back: Miller and Jackson .
-
Good point. It's still too soon to designate one of them as "the guy." For now, Mollberg has earned the start Saturday.

The FCS broadcast had technical problems tonight and the broadcast down here in Kansas City was very poor. I was glad to be able to get the game, but it wasn't in HD as advertised and the picture was compressed so that it didn't take up the whole screen (there was space above and below the picture). Maybe we can chalk it up to the first-time HD production.

Not necessarily. They both had their moments, good and bad, but, like you, I was impressed by the throws that Mollberg completed under heavy pressure in the fourth quarter. He stood his ground and has a gun for an arm. They both gained some invaluable experience today against top-notch competition. They both did a good job of getting the ball to our playmakers, but I think they'd both be more effective if they'd go to the tight end and one of our backs coming out of the backfield once in a while to mix it up a little.

He seems pretty young to be coming in this year. He left high school to go to Ann Arbor after his freshman year and spent two years at Ann Arbor so, if I'm figuring right, agewise he's a high school senior this year. Must be physically mature and talented beyond his years.

Would love to be there in person, but look forward to watching it in HD down here in Kansas City (will be doing a little switching back and forth to the Michigan game, hoping they can the other ND). Was able to see the Valpo game in person and plan on driving up for the EW game and Vermont series next month. I think our two QB's are the real deal, regardless of how they do the next 3-4 weeks; may take them a while to grow into the job as they gain experience against some top-ranked teams. There's bound to be some tough lessons learned the hard way.
-
FYI, we also put up 41 against FBS San Diego St.
-
That'd be great. Where did you see it?
-
Anyone hear how serious the injuries to Walker and Ratelle are? Needless to say, we need them both for SDSU.
-
Now, don't go getting big-headed on us!
-
I agree that it probably wasn't any worse than prior years, especially when you consider the much tougher competition that we faced last season. As you said, our passing game was so good (plus, we were playing from behind in several games), that we relied much more heavily on it than on our ground game.
-
I think Coach K. wants the shutout to make a season-opening statement: Sioux 45 Valpo 0
-
That's what I say!

I'm with you--FCS is what I'm hoping for. Has been great having that option in the past.
