Just got back from Springfield for the Mo. State game. Sold out, so had to buy a standing room only ticket; over 18,000 at the game. Nicely updated stadium with seating right up close to the field. Great college football atmosphere on a beautiful evening. Defense played a great first half, not allowing any points until the last minute of the second quarter. Pretty impressive half, actually (defensively). In the second half, the defense wore down and finally succumbed to our continued turnovers. The offense couldn't get anything done; besides the turnovers, what especially hurt was not being able to capitalize on the takeaways produced by the defense. Dropped passes, again, didn't help, either. Gave up some big pass plays in the second half, but overall I was encouraged by the play of our defense. Nor sure how many yards Shaugabay had, but he worked for every one of them and I was glad to see him finally get a chance.

Am leaning toward driving down for the game. Anyone else plan on being there?

Speaking of Golladay, Northern Illinois had 19 completions spread among 8 receivers in their first game and Golladay had none of the receptions. Wonder if he's injured or just didn't play. Hard to believe he's not one of their 8 best receivers.

What happened to Fall Camp Notebook No. 12?

I know it's still early, but kind of surprised to see Walker and Ivery on the first unit ahead of McGill and Young.

What would your ideal alternative be?

Wouldn't be surprised if Iverson had a hand in this one.

If he's anywhere near being as good as you say, he'll be the steal of the year and may be the anchor we're looking for to lead what we anticipate will be a greatly improved defense this season. I hope he has a very profitable three years at UND and enjoys the experience as much as I think he will. Again, welcome to the Sioux Nation and perhaps we'll run into each other at the home opener, if you plan on attending, as I plan on driving up from Missouri.

According to the roster just posted and updated, he's a senior.

After all the updates, Taj Rich and Cheatom are still listed on the roster. Looks like maybe they're still around.

I think we should schedule one every year, as I think the advantages, such as exposure and a nice financial boost to the budget, outweigh the disadvantages, such as the threat of being blown out. Utah, Washington, etc., are fine, but I'd much rather see us schedule some Big 12 teams (closer to home than the Texas schools)..

It's great that the BSC is having their annual meeting at UND so that, amongst other things, they can see what fantastic facilities we have (and will have). In a way, it would have been nice to have had the meetings at UND next year so that they could have seen the IPF nearly finished and the new $130 million (?) Medical School under construction.

That's two potentially decent quarterbacks (Riddle and Palandech) that we've lost from the 2013 class, so I'd imagine Bubba will attempt to bring in two QB's in the next recruiting class to give us some depth the following season. Not thinking a dropdown unless neither Bartles nor Mollberg prove themselves this season.

From what I've read on Gopher Hole, it sounds like the kid we got from Minnesota could be a real difference maker on defense the next three seasons. Could be a great get.

Gotta make sure we get the Bison on the schedule again next season.
