I think we should schedule one every year, as I think the advantages, such as exposure and a nice financial boost to the budget, outweigh the disadvantages, such as the threat of being blown out. Utah, Washington, etc., are fine, but I'd much rather see us schedule some Big 12 teams (closer to home than the Texas schools)..
It's great that the BSC is having their annual meeting at UND so that, amongst other things, they can see what fantastic facilities we have (and will have). In a way, it would have been nice to have had the meetings at UND next year so that they could have seen the IPF nearly finished and the new $130 million (?) Medical School under construction.
That's two potentially decent quarterbacks (Riddle and Palandech) that we've lost from the 2013 class, so I'd imagine Bubba will attempt to bring in two QB's in the next recruiting class to give us some depth the following season. Not thinking a dropdown unless neither Bartles nor Mollberg prove themselves this season.
From what I've read on Gopher Hole, it sounds like the kid we got from Minnesota could be a real difference maker on defense the next three seasons. Could be a great get.
So far, so good, I think, and I don't believe we're quite finished, yet, either. As you've alluded to, all things considered, especially the late start that the staff got, on paper, at least, this class has exceeded expectations.
Feeling much better about our defensive backfield with the jucos and incoming freshmen that we've recruited. We have a lot of inexperience at the linebacker positions, though, and still a lot of questions with respect to the defensive line.
I'm with you, also. Coach Dodson has been building this program up to where we're competing well this season after stepping up from the Great Western to the WAC (6-3 conf. record so far, despite no actual home games, unless you count the 3 games just played in Bismarck). They should only get better, as most of their key players are underclassmen. The strength of the team is pitching, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the team make a run in the conference tournament for the auto bid.
No inside info, but am guessing at least one of our 3 injured will be good to go on Wed. That would greatly alleviate the depth concerns. If two of them are good to go, then we should be fine.
That was one of the most disgraceful calls/no calls that I've ever seen. The official ought to be reprimanded for missing such an obvious, and potentially crucial call had there been more time remaining, not to mention the fact that it resulted in injury.
Thanks; that jogged the old memory.
BTW, I see that No. Colorado did to So. Utah today (77-52), at So. Utah, what we should have done to them Thurs. night.
