  1. I believe some United States Congressman (not sure which one) is most recently trying to begin an investigation or hearings with recent concerns over collusion between the major air carriers. Delta, United, American and Southwest. Apparently, the accusation is that they are conspiring with one another to take out flights and planes from service to keep prices high for all of them. Even though boardings is at an all time high. Of course, I would be shocked if an investigation or congressional hearing will actually uncover anything substantial to force these airlines to change anything that they do, because lets face- it doesn't matter which party these folks in D.C. are from, they are utterly inept in nearly everything they do with the exception of collection their checks and pensions. Even though I think its very apparent to the average citizen that the major airlines do indeed resort to such tactics. Back to GFK/United. I don't think it was a case that GFK didn't want United, as it was a case that United took their ball and went home. The biggest problem I have with that was how big of sample size did they have for usage over that time- to come to that decision? A year? 18 months? In business, I've always found that you need a larger sample size than you usually think, to market and change behavioral patterns etc. I'm not sure United gave it a good chance.
  2. Wow, thanks for sharing...that's good info to know
  3. And yet it get's better television ratings than puck. Demands more money in its TV deals etc... And you all have to spend so much time and energy to come on here and tell us how "bad" the NBA is. If you don't like it- that's fine, but to go out of your way, it just seems silly.
  4. Quite honestly, I don't believe The Betty was ever developed with the idea of being the end all, be all home of UND Basketball. In fact in the early years basketball was playing many games in The Ralph. That just didn't make a lot of sense...and thus The Betty is the full time home, which is nice. That's not to say that I don't see quite of few issues with it. One thing that does stand out, is that its serves as an outstanding practice venue. Plenty of hoops and court space to work on shooting...although both our men and women were less than stellar in perimeter shooting this past season. Contrary to what others say, there isn't a lot of practice court space where the teams have easy and quick access to on campus. Now, you want to talk about a school that has a ton a of practice courts...Northern Iowa, will blow a persons mind. The Betty is almost the perfect venue for Volleyball. Where it is not, is Basketball, I believe they should have dug it down just like the hockey arena at the Ralph so people could walk around a main concourse and walk down to their seats, but that is not what we got. The reality is that it also not a UND Athletics Facility as it is an REA facility. If REA, deems that has the desire and ability to make improvements then they will. Until then, win- put more bodies in the seats, and go from there.
  5. No worries...I'm just glad others are as excited as I am that we are in the tournament with a chance to do something.
  6. I believe our game is at 9pm our time. The tournament bracket has the first game listed at 3pm Mesa AZ time which would be 5pm our time and our game with Northern Colorado at 7pm local- which would be 9pm. Also, at least in the Grand Forks area, the games will be on 1440 AM which is a nice bonus for those of us who want to follow the game. Go UND!
  7. I believe UND Athletics runs a deficit...not large when put into perspective of today's world, but I would be very surprised that they have a large surplus of money lying around-going unspent. Simply put, basketball just needs to win. First and foremost on the court, but also in the classroom and in the community with the character of the players that they have on the roster. Win, and the possibilities will be endless, for the team and the fan base. I truly believe that.
  8. The GOBC would never allow it.
  9. Not that you need a pat on the back from me but...very well said. You framed it up nicely- and Forum Comm and their hypocrisy which you laid out point by point is now in the proverbial "box".
  10. I thought we had 3 assistants as it currently stands. Do we have 4? Shay, Grabowski, Dirden. Horner was the Director of Basketball Ops. Per rules that position allows no or nearly no coaching or even scouting of opponents etc.- as I understand it.
  11. http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/3711613-fargo-wins-praise-ncaa-regional-tourney This is very positive news. Sounds like those with UND Athletics worked hard and put on a good event. Hopefully, it will be back soon
  12. "The gfhockey Variety Hour" airing Saturday's at 4am on a cable access.
  13. Is it me, or does every player on Hill Murray look like Adam Banks from the movie Mighty Ducks?
  14. At least know who even played on Tuesday night tho.
  15. No, I'm sure the Men's hockey team leaves for most of their road trips on Thursdays. The reason, Coach Hakstol and Tim Hennessy are both at the Coach's Show most Wednesday nights before a road trip with the exception of 1 or 2 series. Basketball is not moving into the REA any time soon-most likely ever. Also there might be Title IX issues here, for example the women's hockey team may not be so easily moved to the Olympic rink as so many here claim. Conversely, if the Men's Basketball team gets to regularly play in the Ralph, Title IX may dicate the Women's team would also be given the opportunity to do so. Most teams like to practice in the venue they play their games in, I just don't see where Men's Hockey, Women's Hockey, WBB, and MBB would find any arrangement acceptable. I know that people are utilizing attendance numbers from the early years where basketball was frequently at the Ralph-- but I was nearly at every one of those contests, I would argue those numbers to be seriously inflated.
  16. I'm sure they need your back handed compliments now.
  17. Your positivity er I mean negativity towards marketing is astounding...I've actually went to some road games and seen opposing schools marketing pieces, perhaps it would surprise you that our production quality holds up surprisingly well...but it must be nice to sit and ridicule from your ivory tower.
  18. Yeah, because we should really expect production value the quality of a New York City agency...give me a break.
  19. Wo, Wo, whoa. I too have been told this by a member of the football staff. But careful, you don't want to let facts and people who deal regularly with President, get in the way.
  20. I think tonight will be the last time we see Omaha or even USD here any time soon again. Their proximity to other schools will see them look elsewhere for more affordable non-conference games. It's all about the bottom line. Places like Northern Colorado, Central Arkansas, and Chicago State (on the Mavs sked this year, not sure next year) offer a school like Omaha the same or shorter bus trip. For us and our perspective, Omaha fits as a non-conference game that makes sense. For Omaha, they have far more options available to them, and I anticipate they will utilize them.
  21. Disagree with that. He whined so much publicly once about the officials that he was suspended by the league for a game in his 1st year.
  22. If the question is depth...wasn't Brewster recruiting for depth when he was head coach in waiting? And yet there is no depth on this current team. Hey if the shoe fits? Wear it. Buck was a Roebuck recruit, he was lucky to have gotten her, as she was the reason they had a remarkable turnaround last year.
  23. You are aware that Tyler left the game with concussion like symptoms after taking a shot to the face in the first 3 minutes of the game??? He did get patched up and play a little more in the half but when they tested him at the half- he had symptoms and couldn't play anymore---so yes he had 0 points.
  24. This has been brought up before, but Denver really will have no interest in playing a non-conference basketball series against us, as they already have to budget a significant portion of travel dollars in coming this direction for their conference games. They have plenty of opportunities to schedule D1's for both money and games closer to home...Air Force, Colorado State, Colorado, Wyoming, Northern Colorado etc... This allows them to keep costs in check, and at the same time when they do travel, they have a tendency to play in areas they like to recruit which is out west.
