  1. I agree totally - and this is why "Sundogs" has more than a fighting chance at being the new nickname.
  2. And I think you're putting a lot of faith in President Kelley.
  3. For the record, 82SiouxGuy, I am not in favor of remaining nickname-less. My point is that in the great scheme of things, without a nickname or even with one, UND is still a relatively small-time school in terms of national athletic exposure. That's just the way it is. Was that a UND logo on your sweatshirt that the guy in Boston saw or one with the Sioux logo on it?
  4. I walked around Yost Ice Arena back in 1998 prior to and during intermission of the Sioux/Wolverine game. Can't tell you how many folks I ran into who were happy to let me know that "Spartans suck" or yell "Go back to East Lansing" to my face. The geometric Sioux head on my green jersey meant squat. People see what they want to see or what they're accustomed to seeing. Hell, I still have to explain to folks in western WI the difference between UND and NDSU. Having a nickname won't change that.
  5. You know what? I've finally been beaten into total capitulation. I have far bigger things to worry about than the nickname of a school I attended almost 25 years ago.
  6. That's a nice looking basketball tank top!
  7. God bless gun control!
  8. Well, now that the nickname is gone, things have done a 180 in Grand Forks...
  9. Still NOTHING on the jerseys?
  10. Well, it could be worse. I turned on a Tigers game the other day to watch them. Problem is, they're all playing for other teams now!
  11. Having seen the abominations that Adidas has released for Nebraska and Texas A&M, I'm now fearing the worst for North Dakota...
  12. Any sort of threat to the public? Would you want this guy sitting on a park bench at a kids' playground in your neighborhood tomorrow afternoon?
  13. In 1991, Wirtz came up with the idea of "Hawkvision," which was a pay-per-view service that broadcast the Blackhawks. Regular season games were not shown at all in Chicago unless you purchased this service. Fans only got to see the Blackhawks on TV if they made the playoffs. Hawkvision was discontinued in 1993, but the exodus of stars from Chicago was just beginning - Tony Amonte, Ed Belfour, Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, etc. Wirtz was a penny-pincher - and THE primary reason the North Dakota "Blackhawk" logo died.
  14. $25,000 bail? What an effin' joke. 700+ pictures and over 100 videos. Way to protect the public there, judge!
  15. Tom Clifford shook my hand when I graduated in May of 1992. Kendall Baker gets a bad rap for "dumping" the old Blackhawk-style logo. UND used that logo with permission from the Chicago Blackhawks. Bill Wirtz was a greedy SOB, saw an opportunity to make money, and demanded that UND pay to use the logo. Blackhawks games were all but non-existent on TV and stars were leaving the team in droves. Fans? They had none. Remember, this was when Michael Jordan ruled Chicago. Baker said "no" to paying for permission to use the logo and it was promptly scrubbed away from UND.
  16. I'm sorry, we're still discussing the POSITIVES of living in Fargo, right?
  17. Well, I did cry when they showed Eruzione's GWG...
  18. Still hoping...
  19. He and his merry band of loyal minions are plotting how to stuff "Sundogs" down our collective throats - like a bad dose of Robitussin, it'll go down.
  20. They do? http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/2009/05/17/top-10-worst-college-team-names/slide/the-university-of-hawaii-rainbow-warriors/
  21. OK, now how do I post my fancy gif images?
  22. Watched "Red Army" finally - good stuff. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.
  23. EXACTLY!
  24. This is gonna take some getting used to!
