Thomas Jefferson and John Adams both dying on July 4th, 1826, is one of the biggest coincidences I can think of in terms of the history of this country. Jefferson was 82 years old, Adams 90. True patriots, both of them.
Devil's advocate here: A lot of UND fans found it amusing that Craig Bohl left NDSU for FBS doormat Wyoming. Where then, would a Roughriders/Sundogs/Fighting Hawks win over the Cowboys be ranked in terms of North Dakota football lore?
Interesting, yes, but I find it sad. Overtook the south, broke away from California, in 1964, no, 1864, and Abraham Lincoln was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. God help America.
"Chief Osceola" is murdered...

Abraham Lincoln issued the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction on December 8, 1863. His plan for how the south was to re-join the Union was put in place long before his death on April 15, 1865.
"Active" players cannot also be employees of the NHL. Chris Pronger has not officially retired, yet he works for the NHL while still on the Flyers payroll. My guess is that this is a wink-wink deal to keep the NHL safe from a concussion lawsuit brought forth by Pronger.
His conversation with the woman from Denver about "abstract" nicknames open to interpretation by each individual and how it resonated with him was hardly taken out of context.
I guess you can thank Abraham Lincoln for not ordering the plundering, pillaging, looting, and burning of the entire Confederacy as punishment for the Civil War. It was only because of him that the rebels were to be treated as what they were once again - American citizens.
Actually, as a fan of the Red Wings, I just happen to have watched a lot of Detroit/Chicago games. It's hilarious listening to Roenick, Milbury, etc. ramble on and on about Chicago's always-loyal hockey fans. It wasn't all that long ago that they were practically giving away Blackhawks tickets with $5 Little Caesar's pizzas.
