  1. Using the Vancouver Canucks as an example would work - if their name was the Canucklandia Canucks. Also, the Canucks have changed their logo and colors a ridiculous number of times in their history, something I don't think UND should be looking at doing at all. The Detroit Red Wings logo, the New York Yankees NY logo, the Dallas Cowboys star logo - now those are logos that stand the test of time - and that's what North Dakota should be trying to find.
  2. Saw that the other night. Milbury's dumbest comment since the "big muff" during the NY Rangers vs Lightning OT game this past Stanley Cup playoffs.
  3. A bloodbath, Goon? Did you forget that Lucic is no longer in Boston?
  4. Sioux suck! = change the name. That's offensive! No-d*ks! No-d*ks! = who cares what our opponents chant at us?
  5. And then you started talking about something a hockey coach said two weeks ago.
  6. So when Roger Thomas removed all Indian imagery from the football jerseys, that's his choice. When the current hockey coach says he likes Nodaks, he needs to be told to keep his mouth shut? For the record, I hate the choice of Nodaks. Wag the sUNDog.
  7. Say Nodaks. Say Canucks. Doesn't sound stupid. Say North Dakota Nodaks. Say Canucklandia Canucks. Yep, sounds stupid.
  8. So if the final selection is anything other than Roughriders, it's because of the hockey-only illuminati in Grand Forks?
  9. As opposed to the Redundancy Redundants if we go with North Dakota Nodaks?
  10. Just cuddle up with your copy of today's Star Tribune and it'll be OK, fs4l. Oh, it's chilly out tonight, so you might want to double up with The Huffington Post too. While you're watching Colbert, of course.
  11. Nonetheless, that's kinda like being a delegate to the Republican or Democratic national convention...and then not voting in the ensuing residential election.
  12. Posted twice for good measure... http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/news/north-dakota/3863554-native-american-community-remains-divided-und-nickname In short, a nickname "doesn't seem important" and "it's just a nickname," unless it's Fighting Sioux, then it matters. That's exactly what I've thought these anti-nickname folks have felt all along. "We couldn't care less about the nickname...unless it's Fighting Sioux."
  13. http://www.thedickinsonpress.com/news/north-dakota/3863554-native-american-community-remains-divided-und-nickname So...it "doesn't seem that important" and "it's just a nickname," but if it's Fighting Sioux, it's an abomination and we are not your mascot. Thanks for the clarification, Erich.
  14. Not if DaveK has anything to say about it!
  15. 2014-2015 excuse: old coaching. 2015-2016 excuse: new coaching.
  16. Big 10 Hockey Fever...catch it!
  17. My outdoor broomball rink at Lexington Park in Roseville has better ice than the Target Center!
  18. I've heard and read quite a bit about these upgrades in the past couple of days - sure doesn't sound like anything that will improve the quality of college hockey. Well, other than the new entrance to the building, which will hopefully alleviate the green logjam every spring...
  19. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Opponents of UND in all sports are licking their chops at Nod*ks cheers and t-shirts. Yes, I realize that that nickname has "history" at UND...but so does Flickertails. Nodaks should stay in the "retired" pile of nicknames as well. Go Fighting Hawks!
  20. To be fair, you happen to view Bernie Sanders as a political moderate, so I'm not sure Tom's a "right-wing shill."
  21. is the Cam Fathead in Portland tonight?
  22. Aren't the words "historical purposes" in the agreement somewhere?
