  1. In 1991, Wirtz came up with the idea of "Hawkvision," which was a pay-per-view service that broadcast the Blackhawks. Regular season games were not shown at all in Chicago unless you purchased this service. Fans only got to see the Blackhawks on TV if they made the playoffs. Hawkvision was discontinued in 1993, but the exodus of stars from Chicago was just beginning - Tony Amonte, Ed Belfour, Jeremy Roenick, Chris Chelios, etc. Wirtz was a penny-pincher - and THE primary reason the North Dakota "Blackhawk" logo died.
  2. $25,000 bail? What an effin' joke. 700+ pictures and over 100 videos. Way to protect the public there, judge!
  3. Tom Clifford shook my hand when I graduated in May of 1992. Kendall Baker gets a bad rap for "dumping" the old Blackhawk-style logo. UND used that logo with permission from the Chicago Blackhawks. Bill Wirtz was a greedy SOB, saw an opportunity to make money, and demanded that UND pay to use the logo. Blackhawks games were all but non-existent on TV and stars were leaving the team in droves. Fans? They had none. Remember, this was when Michael Jordan ruled Chicago. Baker said "no" to paying for permission to use the logo and it was promptly scrubbed away from UND.
  4. I'm sorry, we're still discussing the POSITIVES of living in Fargo, right?
  5. Well, I did cry when they showed Eruzione's GWG...
  6. Still hoping...
  7. He and his merry band of loyal minions are plotting how to stuff "Sundogs" down our collective throats - like a bad dose of Robitussin, it'll go down.
  8. They do? http://keepingscore.blogs.time.com/2009/05/17/top-10-worst-college-team-names/slide/the-university-of-hawaii-rainbow-warriors/
  9. OK, now how do I post my fancy gif images?
  10. Watched "Red Army" finally - good stuff. Two enthusiastic thumbs up.
  11. EXACTLY!
  12. This is gonna take some getting used to!
  13. Happy hour, door prizes, a chance to win Wild tickets, mustache ride, meet Nordy, wine tasting, and uh...wait a second, what was that again? Mustache ride - ALL DAY?
  14. Anyone going to this tomorrow in Hastings? (Read the fine print)
  15. And Detroit has decided to call it a season by trading Cespedes. Good thing they kicked Max Scherzer to the curb and kept Justin Verlander, eh?
  16. Totally agree with you there, fs4l. Once again, while the Roughrider and No Nickname/Fighting Sioux Forever forces continue to do battle with each other, Sundog supporters just sit in the bushes, waiting to strike. Once some TR quotes start being "exposed" by committee members and "trademark and licensing problems" start popping up with North Stars and Roughriders, we'll see a few more cuts and all of a sudden --BAM! -- Sundogs will find itself a finalist.
  17. I sure hope UND releases their new jerseys before the season opener!
  18. Stick a fork in the Tigers - they're done.
  19. Just found out yesterday that the "other" guy in Wham!, Andrew Ridgeley, has been with one of the girls from Bananarama for the past 25 years... Mind = blown.
  20. There's that unnecessary apostrophe again... AZ State's temporary home will seat up to 900 people, which, when full to capacity, will be 9 times the average crowd at a B10 hockey tournament championship game.
  21. I hope you're wrong in the worst way. NORTH Dakota Redundant Stars is so far beyond ridiculous that it's almost sad.
  22. You can't really call out A-Roid and cheer on Santana, can you? Ervin adamantly denies "knowingly" taking Stanozol and still claims he hasn't the foggiest idea how it got into his system? C'mon...
  23. Gopher fan friends of mine licking their chops over being able to ridicule "Sundogs" or even better, throw condoms on the ice if the selection is "Roughriders." I'd imagine Bison fans would love Roughriders as well for football, volleyball, and basketball games.

    Jerseys

Not a jersey, but if you're interested in hockey sticks, I have one used by Joe Finley that I'm looking to part with.
  25. In this day and age of hyper-sensitivity and over-apologizing for anything and everything, I'm sorry, but I disagree. Kelley and company will want to avoid ANY potential nickname controversy. "Well, Roughriders and Sundogs were our final two choices - but given TR's comments on Indians, the final selection was actually quite clear. The new nickname 'Sundogs' will epitomize the true spirit of diversity and abstract vision for the future that we, as the University of North Dakota..."
