  1. BU's new coach took a 21-16-2 team and turned them into a 10-21-4 team his first year. He then lost in the national championship game his second year. He's had one horrific year and one year that has been good, but based on the requirements here, not great.
  2. Head to the Sioux bar and see if anyone needs one. Someone would take it at face value or buy you a handful of beers.
  3. I'll be at the Denver one with my girlfriend and a couple other friends if we win on Thursday.
  4. Then how did his teams win 17 NCAA tournament games in 11 years?
  5. In basketball you can win with 2-3 really good players and an ok surrounding cast. That's not the case in hockey. Toews, Oshie and Duncan aren't out there every shift, they're not playing goalie, they're not on the back end trying to stop the other team's high end forwards on every play. Disappointing Hak hasn't won a title? Absolutely, but having three great players in one year doesn't mean you're guaranteed to win. Did last year's UND team have all the talent? Did they underachieve or would you say Hak got the best out of a team that didn't have great talent? The 07-08 team had Oshie and Duncan, but then only three seniors... they made the Frozen Four. Is that getting the best out of a team? I'd say so.
  6. Unfortunately, there continues to be a disconnect between the NCHC and the Target Center for a lot of the issues. TC staff are used to basketball games with a different clientele for their games. Many of the policies implemented are for basketball purposes and changes haven't been made in that aspect. The $97 million renovation that begins this summer will have a big impact on the atmosphere of the arena. Yes, it's still going to be a basketball arena with hockey but it will be customized a bit more for the tournament in the next three years of the contract. I encourage everyone who had a bad experience (and a good one) to email the NCHC about the issues. The Target Center isn't going to change things unless the direction comes from the conference.
  7. The only talk about this is by people who have no idea about the contracts.
  8. As of Wednesday, more tickets have been sold for this year's frozen faceoff than last year. still have walk up numbers to report too.
  9. Check the NCHC's twitter feed just to make sure it's still set and there aren't any delays.
  10. Mr and Mrs Siouxman will be bringing some nchc giveaways as I won't be able to make it. Everyone should go, it was a good time last year.
  11. LaLeggia was on the first team, Schmaltz was not. I'd take that as a sign.
  12. There were 8,500 for the Friday session and high 7,000s for the Saturday session. It's a full day pass so you don't have to leave between games. If UMD or SCSU make it along with the Sioux there should be a few more.
  13. Sub .500 next year, either in conference or overall gets him fired a year early. Unless all of these message board heroes decide to pony up the money to cover the buyout this summer.
  14. There is the award ceremony at Muse in Minneapolis. It is open to the public, however people have to get tickets. It's that Thursday before the games and is a pretty nice ceremony with some of the greatest videos ever edited
  15. If UND is in the Frozen Faceoff, they will play the night game both to maximize ticket sales and also for TV revenue for CBSSN.
  16. Losing in the second round does us no good, since there is a third place game. Might as well win it all.
  17. Good luck getting the Pepsi Center, or any major hockey arena, to hold a random weekend in April when the first round of the NHL playoffs are often starting.
  18. Doubtful I can make it this year, but once against the NCHC has willingly chipped in some swag for giveaways. Most likely, Mr and Mrs Siouxman will be bringing the goods with them from the arena.
  19. We are five minutes from another loss due to Jones or a comeback win because of the players. Regardless, I'm excited for the same week worth of ranting by Darrel that he can't seem to stop repeating.
  20. Got bored today and was curious how many late period goals UND has allowed, especially after WMU scored the game tying goal with under a minute to play last weekend. I excluded empty net goals. Here's how I broke it down: Goals against UND with more than 1 minute but less than two minutes: 7 Goals for UND with more than 1 minute but less than two minutes: 3 Goals against UND with less than 1 minute: 2 Goals for UND with less than 1 minute: 6 Goals against UND with less than 2 minutes in the third that either tied or won the game: 2 (both were extra attacker goals... vs Providence 2-2 tie, at Western Mich 3-2 OT win) Goals for UND with less than 2 minutes in the 3rd that either tied or won the game: 2 (both were extra attacker goals... vs Air Force 3-2 OT win, at Omaha 3-2 OT loss)
  21. And so we blame Jones for their road record but he gets no credit for home wins?
  22. I'm curious what people attribute for the turnaround in those two games? Certainly, it couldn't have been any adjustments by the coaching staff as we all know Jones has never made an adjustment ever.
  23. Goal judges make mistakes just like regular refs. In most arenas that still have goal judges, just for the heck of it, they are boosters of the school who are given a nice seat to watch the game.
  24. And what if it's a 2nd place finish without a trip to the dance, OOC wins, a signature win, beating both the Griz and Weber state? Is that a failure in your eyes?
