Uh yeah. I'm sure this candy-ass wears a visor because he's afraid.

First off, I'd like to wish Nick the best, and hope he fully recovers and can hit the ice again. Second, I think the arguments against visors/shields are crap. Players and teams have a vested interested in ensuring the safety of player. Players don't give a second thought to putting on breezers, a cup, pads and gloves when they suit up. Why should visors be any different? You're more likely to catch a puck or stick across the face that a blade getting between the visor and the face. I wear an Oakley visor and never really experience a loss of perception or space once I'm used to it. Your eyes and body adjust to their environments. Moreover, if the rules were rigorously enforced, as we've discussed ad nauseum, we probably wouldn't have to worry about. But until then, I see no reason why a $50 piece of carbonite plastic can't spare a guy a few hours under the knife and perhaps save his career too.
  3. If that's your idea of a "reality check", you may want to consider another line of work.
  4. I remember trying to run down, or at least not slowing down for, anybody I saw in MSP wearing Bison fan gear. I think it's an automatic reaction to filth.
  5. My favorite whine from the Op-Ed was this tidbit: As oppposed to the sense of entitlement certain student-fans exude at REA, and on this board with regard to their conduct, seating, etc.? Good thing the Stupid still stocks its editorial staff with the usual cadre of whining bed-wetters they did when I was on campus. I love "tradition".
  6. I agree. So he can buy one of these.
  7. I think it's always so nice when the bottom comes out to defend a minor league columnist, especially when the highlight of the tantrum is the term "idiot". That said ... You are grimy, squalid, nasty and profane. You are foul and disgusting. You're a fool, an ignoramus. Monkeys look down on you. You are unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot. So, when does hockey start again?
  8. I wonder if the Michigan Daily will print his memoirs of "band camp" next week.
  9. With 80-90K in GF, Haks could buy himself some of this:
  10. This is wrong on so many levels, but Reuesse owes me the diet Moutain Dew I just spewed ...
  11. Agreed. Except for a few "noobs", most of the gopher fans on this site are pretty decent, and I would hope our people try to behave on their sites. That said, I was praying for this matchup on Saturday.
  12. Nice, nice game. Next up, Denver, and revenge.
  13. But for the fact that we've missed some great shots and rebounds, I'm not overly impressed by Briggs tonight. Our guys just need to keep playing their game, and work for the entire remaining 40 minutes.
  14. What do you expect? INCH discloses that it gets its "information" from a variety of sources, including that crazy cat lady down the street, Larry the Urinating Bum, USCHO, Sid Hartman, Sponge Bob Squarepants and Dan Rather. Not exactly a stellar cast of "primary" sources.
  15. Frankly, I think people who are worried about team names/logos and their presumed "effects" on American Indians are missing the point. Given the rampant poverty, addiction, suicide rates, crime and health problems found on most reservations, and in the inner cities, I really doubt that changing any school's name just to appease a few hypersensitive, hand wringing bed-wetters is going to have any discernible impact on the lives of most Indians. It would make the academics happy for a few seconds, as well as those whites whose only contact with Indians comes from trips to the casino or reruns of "The Lone Ranger", but I doubt it would impact the crisis facing Indians today. There was an excellent article in the NY Times yesterday about the unraveling of traditional family units among Indians, and how the tribes and the feds are ill-equipped to deal with the effects of this breakdown. Perhaps if the name change crowd directed its "intellect" towards more basic issues they might gain a shred of credibility. However, that would take some thought and serious soul searching, both of which seem to elude these people. Hell, I'm surprised some "scholar" hasn't blamed the Red Lake shootings on the UND name/logo, yet.
  16. Maybe if McLeod and the rest of suits don't get the need for enforcing the rules, perhaps we should sign these guys and allow them to enforce "The Rules".
  17. Probably an extension of the desire for "parity" among the haves and have-nots by pounding the snot out of "stars" who feel compelled to leave for the relative safety of the AHL or NHL.
  18. Agreed. I love the whining, purse-swinging Nancy-boys from HE on USCHO crying about "ratings", "nobody will watch", etc. Who cares? "Nobody" watches these games, except diehard fans of the game and their programs, regardless if you had Michigan and BC in the final. So the ratings "issue" is just more bunch of horse crap. I think that having four teams playing, especially two teams in Minnie and UND that "weren't supposed to be there" based on preseason ratings, rebuilding, etc., says volumes about the quality of the WCHA and our programs. That said anybody who underestimates Minnesota, or Lucia's ability to coach his teams to another level, is really not paying attention.
  19. Given how this season has been, with its fits and starts, new faces, etc., as well as injuries, this team has far surpassed any expectations I had for it in October. Lucia seems to get the best out his teams when "it counts", but I still think the guys have it in them to win another two games for Number 8. It should be fun, and I'm quite glad to see the best hockey conference in the nation solely represented in Columbus.
  20. Excellent! On to Columbus! Thanks for the updates, and info, everybody.
  21. "Ain't over til it's over." Keep up the pressure guys!
  22. And we all have teams of overage Canadians, with wives and kids, ... even Minnesota.
  23. Sweet! Time?
