Any idea what kind of turf? I hope they are able to go with Field turf but I know there were concerns about cost, storage and ability to change it out quickly.

I have to admit that USD is in quite the position of power for negotations with both the Big Sky and the Summit/MVFC. I also wonder if having to start men's tennis a bigger deal for USD than it is for UND, I think I remember reading that SDSU had a different Title IX standard than NDSU because of the SD Board of Regents.

You do realize that Creighton has no say in what happens in the MVFC. They don't have a vote...its a seperate conferece. The MVC voted to allow the Gateway conference to use the VALLEY name and brand.

Any idea when UND will be eligible to recieve NCAA tournament money. I believe the year that NDSU went to the NCAA's they didn't recieve NCAA money from the Summit League...just curious what sort of arrangement the Big Sky has set up for the new members.

I think the question has to be asked....Is baseball feasible at UND? UND has to add Men's tennis per Big Sky policy, I would think that would mean an adjustment is needed to satisfy title IX requirements. Anyone have any insight?

Perhaps Standing Rock approved use of the name...that might fall into "one of the most significant annoucements in history" category.

Rick a good measure of how that would work is with UND and NDSU football...I would give it 2 or 3 years before fans started pushing for Gopher/Sioux games to resume. On one hand a Big 10 Hockey Conference would allow for growth (or at least room) in existing conferences...which is good for the sport. I would hope that if MN left the WCHA that our adminstration would work very hard to conitnue the rivalry with a long term home/home contract

wow...I'm not sure how I currently feel about UND's current AD and President. I think their decision will hurt alumni donations more than changing the name itself.

I agree as soon as NDSU made it known that they were entering negotiations, UND should have demanded some answers. Also, I will be very disappointed if Fasion and company don't persue Legal Action for breach of contract. And if there is no penalty than UND has to evaluate their "contracts" because it seems that there has been other cases of contracts where the "party opting out" has not suffered a great enough penalty.

UNI..1st MVC team to win a single NCAA tourney game since Bird was Indiana St. This is not correct...in fact 2001- Indiana State wins 1 game 2002- Creighton wins 1 game; Southern IL wins 2 2005- Southern IL wins 1 game 2006- Bradley wins 2 games; Wichita State wins 2 games 2007- Southern IL wins 2 games 2010- UNI wins 2 games (to be continued) Not sure where you got the fact but the MVC has long been known to produce wins in the NCAA tournament.

I wouldn't catorgize 138th as the "tough road". Maybe Duke and Kansas are taking the easy road. But on the subject of NC SOS teams that make sense to compare should be; SDSU 59 USD 102 NDSU 120 UND 138

I can understand why UNO would bargin for a reduced entry fee and its share of the money right away. It would be interesting to see if BSU would be willing to pay UNO's entry fee. I would think that they would.

Why would Mary want to hire a coach that had just been fired from another school in the conference? One that finished below them.

I guess we'll see after the fall. Personally I liked the Thursday night home opener, but there we a lot of other things that helped that. Like the students coming back the day before. In general I prefer the 1pm start but I'm willing to try both and let the attendence numbers speak for themselves.

The Summitt could also add Cal Poly and UC Davis as affiliate members to get to 8. That would look like a pretty good conference. In fact it may be better than the Valley

Huge blow to UND swimming. Mavi's success was often unnoticed but none the less it was quite remarkable. The piece that ESPN did last year really showed the dedication of those in the program. Best of luck to Mavi.

I don't mind black when used with green. I like the green top/back pant combo and would like a black top/green pant combo but I wouldn't care for an all black home uniform.

It would make sense. I would also assume that the cost would be slit between UND, the city (Parks and Rec), and the School District.

I agree. We seem to be hearing a lot about the redshirts but I try to temper my excitment by remembering that they have yet to play in a DI game.

Here's a question that I have. Are we better off with 4 home games if it means that 2010 we will have an all FCS home schedule? If we settle for another non DI home game I would guess that 2010 will be 3 or 4 DI FCS (2 great west) and 1 or 2 non DI. Is it worth having another non DI on the home schedule? I'm starting to think that we should bite the bullet, which may lead to a better schedule sooner.

Now that means that the Potato Bowl Game has to be a DI game for us to meet the DI minimum. If that happens its going to turn out to be a pretty good schedule.
