  1. I forgot about that. I'm sure that has helped them tremendously or at least given them some bargining power.
  2. I've always thought it would be interesting to see the usage agreement that UND has with the Alerus and be able to compare it to the usage agreement NDSU has with the Fargo Dome. It seems that NDSU uses the Fargo Dome more than UND uses the Alerus (ie spring practices, office space, spring game, ect.). That makes me wonder if they have a better agreement with their city owned facility than we do.
  3. I saw in the herald this morning that former Red River GK Erin Pederson assisted on the goal. I'm going to assume that doesn't happen very often. I would think it would be even harder for a GK in soccer to register an assist than goalie in hockey. Can anyone else remember seeing or hearing of a soccer GK getting an assist?
  4. Women's Soccer and Team Captain Lara Traczyk is the Friday feature on fightingsioux.com. The article can be found here: http://fightingsioux.xosn.com/ViewArticle....;ATCLID=1209499
  5. Sorry for the delay when posting. I thought that the game was ok. It wasn't a great performance and when I got there we were down 1-0 but had the majority of chances when I was there. #25 Megan Tracy had what I thought was the best performance. On an additional note the tailgators and sioux crew was exceptional. They really add a lot to the environment. Those that haven't been to a soccer game, those fans are worth the trip because they are entertaining with their chats and singing.
  6. Has anyone seen the athletic master plan talked about here. It must be finished ?!?
  7. Well, it's gameday again. Let's hope that the ladies bounce back against Southwest State. I will be able to make the game, so I'll post a few of my thoughts here afterwards.
  8. I just read that the ladies drop a game at Bemidji yesterday. Was anybody at that game for a report? I don't believe that our soccer team has ever lost to Bemidji. If anyone was there a game report would be appreciated.
  9. Just got back from the game today we won 3-0. It was a very physical game and a pretty windy day which impacted play some. I think that this team show a lot of promise. Some of the younger players have matured and were very impressive. I though that #18 Mandi Bohmer (sp?) played well and scored a great goal to make it 1-0. #7 Lauren Herman was fast and seemed to have a lot of chances to score but couldn't find the back of the net. Little #11 Sarah Thaden seemed to be a crowd favorite and had a solid performance. The crowd was great and loud and the tailgators were out in full force today. The one thing that I love about watching a game there is you feel so much a part of it because the bleachers are so close to the field. The only negative I saw was we didn't seem to be as deep as we were a year ago.
  10. Today will give me my first chance to see this years team in action. They play Wayne State at 1pm. I'll try to give you a report following the game, hopefully there will be a good crowd on hand.
  11. The soccer program got a big commitment last week from Rachael Loomis a junior at Fargo South. This was a big recruit as her final two choices came down to NDSU and UND. Yesterday she was name Gatorade Player of the Year, the first time a non senior has won the award in past 10 years. Some people think that she is the next Randi Glass (Rich's Daughter) as she like Randi played for one of the best club teams in the country based out of MPLS. Congrats to Women's Soccer!
  12. That is an interesting possibility, soccer in the Alerus Center. As for the jumbotrons. I don't know any soccer team that has 2, but the University of Mary plays soccer at the Community Bowl and has one. I would assume that they may be the only DII team to have a jumbotron
  13. And the new W. Hockey coach is . . .
  14. They lost 1-0 to Creighton and have two home games coming up on the 14th
  15. I prefer them over the old ones but thats just me. I also prefer black as the away color.
  16. Does anyone have a game score? Thanks in advance.
  17. I think that you may be missing a few sports that stick to their budget. I've heard that XC and Track hasn't been over budget in 15 years. I beleive that M and W Swimming and W Soccer all were within budget last year. I understand your frustration with REA and I will admitt it isn't ideal, but it is more ideal than the Alerus. We pay unreasonable amounts of money to use it for games, pre game practice and anything else. With no hopes of getting any profits.
  18. As one who follows the soccer program I am concerned about a couple of losses this seaon, most notably the loss to Northern State and Concordia St. Paul. I haven't seen many games but did see them play @ Mankato and I would say they played better than I expected factoring in the seniors that they lost. There are some very good freshman in program. By the looks of the box scores they have started anywhere for 6 to 8 freshman a game so I think that it is reasonable for some growing pains. Also losing their captain Shannon Murphy to an ACL injury has to have had a major impact. The one question mark that I have is that they brought in a transfer from Indiana State who has yet to play. She had some very high accolades, like being the school school record holder for goals in a career. I wonder if she is ineligible or injured? In reference to the St. Cloud 1-0 OT, it was this first win for the program at St. Cloud (they tied @ St. Cloud last year). As a parent of a former player I know this because St. Cloud has been a little like Auggie for the football team so all things considered that would be a quality win. Also the NCC no longer has a postseason tournament, they did away with it after the 2004 season. Why I don't know, but you either get into the NCAA tournament or your season ends at the end of the regular season.
  19. IMO- that the powers that be need to use the GWFC as a string to get an formal invitation to the Mid Con. If the commish is serious about tying the GWFC to the Mid Con I believe that it would be a mistake to just get football in as soon as possible. I believe that this is really the only card that we hold to attempt to get a conference invite.
  20. I agree that not owning your own facilities does hurt some revenue, but it also makes it possible to have and operate a first class facility. The one item that makes sense from REA is that WHEN IT TURNS A PROFIT THE REVENUE GOES BACK TO UND ATHLETICS. The facility that I beleive is a money drain is the Alerus. What do we get from them? IMHO at least with the REA and the Betty our teams have offices there, practice there, and when there is a profit the money goes back. Does anyone know what we pay to play in the Alerus? and do we get concessions there? I think our FB team even has to pay to practice there and pay for the visiting team to practice there. Don't get me wrong both are great facilities, and I don't know the contract but from what I do know the REA has the most potentail to increase UND Athletic's revenue.
  21. Sioux women won 4-1 today. There was a great crowd on hand and Sioux Crew was out in full force. Freshman Kevyn Lindeman scored two goals, both coming on corner kicks. I thought that today's game had a great atmosphere to it. Next game Sunday at 1pm vs Northern State.
  22. Did anyone happen to catch the soccer exhibition game today against Jamestown. I see that it ended 7-0 in favor of the sioux. Any updates on how the team looks for season?
  23. The soccer roster lists her as a defender. Also her BB profile states that she was All State in soccerher senior year in High School plus All conference twice (see link below). http://www.fightingsioux.com/sports/wbball...?PLAYER_ID=3638
  24. I just read in the GF Herald that Kristi Boese is going to play soccer this fall. This is an interesting development. I don't know what her ability is like but judging by her athletic ability on the BB court I would guess that she would be willing to help. Anybody else intrigued by this?
  25. For those of you that are in the loop more than me. Any thoughts on Coach Jones and the new era in MBB in his first few months?
