  1. Count me as one that would love the Summit/MVFC spot. The Big Sky is fine but after the two Montana schools there isn't much to latch on to.
  2. Does anyone know about this? http://terryvandrovec.tumblr.com/post/23536406252/tuesday-tidbits I can't fatham a reason that we haven't played SDSU in women's hoops...I just have a hard time thinking we said NO
  3. Hak is next. It's apparent that anyone who isn't on board with retiring the nickname is going to be out. It's really a sad thing what's going on on campus. Hak is next. It's apparent that anyone that isn't on board with retiring the nickname is going to be out. It's really sad.
  4. Any idea if the upper level will be open tomorrow.  How are ticket sales going?
  5. We would rip a kid if he verballed and decommitted but this is the reverse...you don't offer a recruit, have the recruit and then pull the plug. Something tells me that we wouldn't have pulled the offer if the transfer QB didn't come to the table. This is something that will hurt us recruiting...other schools will be sure to mention it. Annette, I'm sorry your son was treated this way. I do believe that (after reading his twitter) he has some growing up to do, but I appreciate the fact that you acknowledge that. UND football should have stuck by it's word and stayed committed to the kid. What's the saying...what goes around comes around...
  6. Would they put "North" in the north endzone or the south endzone
  7. They weren't in the top 25 in the poll that matters.
  8. but I'm guessing we lost the game, I'm sure UWGB won't return the game now.
  9. It's hard to stomach that UND football has the lowest attendence of the 4 Dakota Schools. The program needs a shot in the arm and scheduling a solid Non Conference home game can do that. Hence, USD hosting Eastern Washington or UND Men's Basketball renewing the NDSU rivalry. I predict another small drop in attendence this season for UND football...invest in the program, Fasion!
  10. Montana has often times NOT played a FBS team, that's why you'll see a DII team on the schedule. In regards to point #2, you have to invest in the program and over time that investment will pay off, it is very likely that a "doormat" from the eastcoast could be a cupcake which could provide a win that gets us enough wins to be playoff eligible. If you ask me that worth spending 150k regardless how many people show up. A playoff team is likely to boost attendence the following year...again another reason to INVEST 150k in the FB program.
  11. But I thought that a "big advantage" of the Big Sky was the #1 seed got to host the tournament? I've been suggesting Vegas for a year. It would be interesting to see which tournament would have higher attendence the Summit in Sioux Falls or the Big Sky in Vegas?
  12. When the schedule came out that was the first indication that they were trying to get by cheap for a year...this just solidify's it. IMO Muss (or any head coach) shouldn't be coaching the OL
  13. I agree, but a higher conference MBB RPI is a big thing. It carry's down and can help get an additional team in the NIT or CBI. Men's BB is the sport of opprotunity at the DI level for Mid Major/FCS schools.
  14. I do think it matters. Even though it may be one team, the higher your conference RPI the more likely the top couple of teams will be able to maintain an RPI that can get them at 10-12 seed....which increases the "chance" of a win.
  15. It is a little concerning that the Big Sky is currently ranked 6 slots below the Summit, even with Centenary. Once the lose Centenary the gap may widen.
  16. I watched the video...just pointed out that the Big Sky's Conference RPI is 23rd and the Summit League's is 17. Wouldn't be considered a jab without the events of the past 4 or 5 months...but because of those events, it was definately a calculated jab.
  17. I read the gender equitity document...is anyone else concerned about that? It appears that some of those changes may be costly.
  18. We can't pony up money for a FCS non conference game...I'm not holding my breath that UND will be able to "successfully bid' for a home playoff game.
  19. Not a chance, That was cause too much media attention on the NCAA...They will say UND can't host NCAA postseason tournaments, and to be honest I can live with that.
  20. Its actually a 2 year transition, although year 1 the NAIA allows the to participate in the post season. I'm sure the reason for 4 years is to discourage as many school as possible from making the move. Since UND has made the move the NCAA has made the DI transition even more difficult, i.e. must have a conference invite prior to making the jump plus nearly a $1M membership fee.
  21. Football is possible....Basketball Men's or Women's will never host, not because the ability of the teams but because they way the NCAA runs the tournament (Predetermined Regional Sites)
  22. I will admitt my mistake....the person who negotiated the Idaho State contrat and all others around that time is no longer in the UND athletics departmen (but was until not too long ago)t, but it wasn't Tom Buning. Although Mr. Buning was obiviously responsible for delagating this responsibility to him.
  23. He wasn't the one scheduling football games and negotiating contracts...now you can argue that he probably should have been the one but I think (actually know) the duty of FB scheduling during the Buning era was handled by someone who is still in the UND Athletic Department.
  24. Actually I believe he is still working in the Athletic Department but is no longer negotiating the FB contracts.
  25. Well let's put the facts out there- 1) Fasion turned down an every other year series verus NDSU....that still blows my mind. Why would that not be helpful for the fb program, attendence and fan interest? 2) UND has released their 2011 football schedule very early...there are still FCS team looking for games, both home and away (Yes these are advertised)...so to me that tells me that it's taking the easy way out. It's either about the money (we don't want to be for a one game) or its about not being able to secure a contract (home and away; 2 for 1) that fits. 3) I think the majority of fans, myself included, would rather see an away game verus another FCS team than an "extra home game" versus a recent NAIA team. The players deserve to see where they stack up in the FCS, the fans want to see that and I believe it would be much more valuable for fan interest than 3 non DI one teams. I mean we play 6 out of a possilbe 11 games against teams in our own classification, and one of those is a stretch (Drake) to consider a FCS team. Here is an honest question, how will it be apparent if progress is made with our FB team next season?
