University of North Dakota Hockey 2016 - 2017 Season
tnt replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Evers could be a possibility instead of Bast, simply because Bast sat out most of the year due to injury and Evers played a lot of minutes in the USHL. But Bast is older so who knows, as I have only seen Evers play in an All-Star game and never seen Bast. It will be interesting to see who the coaches think is ready for the next step. -

Was interesting that Schlossman was offered a job writing in the NHL somewhere last year. He said it was good he didn't take it because they have since had layoffs. -
It's not a done deal yet, so it could change a bit, and perhaps they only have initial rounds on campus sites. For our purposes, I hope they have their whole tourney on campus sites. Of course, it would take a year or two without UND at our conference tourney, and campus sites would be looking good to NCHC administration as well. As SJHovey said, it might even look good to them now. It is just depressing how we went from the best tournament and a spectacle to everybody needing to scramble to make something good of the situation. Thanks Big Ten!

... and for UND fans, are you going to invest in that, or are you going to hold out the hope the team will make it to the Frozen Four and spend your time and money there instead.
-
But the B1G is going to campus sites as well. http://www.gopherpucklive.com/campus-sites-coming-to-big-ten-hockey-tournament/
-
Why alternate at all? Just finish out the contract and play at the "X" every year.
-
True, but at least in circumstances like that, you will know a year or two ahead what his plans are going to be.
-
It's funny to watch Adam Wodon react to the conference tournaments going back to campus sites and his need to defend his position on the NCAA tournament staying at sites where no fans show up. Red Berenson said that they have important games being played in front of nobody at the conference tournament, but some people think it is o.k. to play even more important games in front of nobody.

Heard on the radio this morning that Casey Johnson will be coming in for the 2016-2017 season. -
Yeah, I imagine playing on the road, even in the playoffs would boost your PWR by winning. Likewise losing at home would hurt a little more.

That may change after their contract is up.
-
What did you hear then? Was it the conversation with Wayne Nelson?
-
That is what he said, and basically was thinking Wayne Nelson would be needing Schlossman to work on that story shortly. Made it sound like a foregone conclusion.
-
Oh come on is right. Everybody knows they were talking about Schmaltz, and Tim Hennessy was basically saying the same. Apparently it wasn't as cut and dried as they were led to believe. Maybe people should call Hennessy out on his early call on it as well.
-
I'm thinking Tim Hennessy must have heard what the other guys did, because he eluded to it last Friday. Sure, they didn't give out any specific information, but it is always nice to have a heads up when something might be going down in the near future. Maybe next time they won't even bother.
-
That is why he isn't starting his college career this year. That's his transfer year.
-
The question isn't if this thread would exist, would this forum still exist after the implosion!
-
Henderson had four goals, two assists in 1997, so I would guess that would be the last time.
-
Not a big Hammy fan, but to be fair he was not in favor of the really early recruitment of goalies and said that when they recruited Edquist. So while others might have felt that way, I don't believe he thought he would be the certain answer.
-
Duluth still has Toninato, Johnson and Iafallo, and brings in Tufte, so they should be o.k. up front.
-
Yeah, considering Edmonton has had #1 overall draft picks for how many years and spent them on Major Junior players, I hardly think they can pin their problems on "soft" college players. Fans like that don't deserve Caggiula. Edmonton isn't the elite team they used to be, and maybe they can use some more players that know how to win and know what that culture looks like.
-
Not you.

I am surprised that anyone would suggest that someone that has given as much to the program as Greene is somehow "bush league". I think that people knowing nothing that is going on behind the scenes and the communication that is going on, yet putting labels like that on players that have laid it on the line for this program is in and of itself bush league and I bet the coaches would agree.
-
I remember a player saying that all the interaction with the fans might have been a distraction at the Frozen Faceoff this year. I am sure all agree it is far better to have that support and the other team having to deal with the rabid fans. Bottom line is that if you aren't ready to play on any given night, it doesn't matter where you play. That said, I think Schlossman said that 4 or 5 of the best teams at the end of last year had the highest scoring defense in the country. In order for us to be back up there next year, guys like Shaw will have to take a step forward, because I don't know if the guys that would come in would be known for their offense first. You can say a lot about our CBS line, but a portion of their success is how effective our defense was at getting the puck out of our zone and the way they transitioned so well. One need only look at LaDue's awesome pass to spring Boeser in the Championship game. You can't play fast without that great transition game.
