Let me ask you this. If he was/is vulnerable, why did NDSU keep trotting him out there? Is it all about winning? Does NDSU not care about his possible professional aspirations? Yes, I'm sure Wentz wanted to go back out there, as most competitors do, but shouldn't somebody be thinking big picture, especially since these type of injuries are tricky.

Is Duluth attempting the same policy? Seems like most or all of their home games will be on sale through Ticketmaster, except I didn't see the games against UND listed.
-
Yes, because preseason games have always been an indicator of regular season success. Don't know how you can draw any conclusions when starters play one or two series.

Agree, that Morlock has done nothing to warrant discipline. Glad Montana realized that kind of thing shouldn't happen, and apologized for the incident. It is impossible to stop all idiot fans from doing stupid things, but it should be incumbent on the home team to have the requisite security for the opposing team.

But their punter sure is a game changer. Hopefully they won't be able to play the field position game as incredibly as they have in the past.

Vote on your final 5 nickname choices (just ND is out)
tnt replied to jimdahl's topic in UND Nickname
I have to laugh at gopher fans hoping we get stuck with a bad nickname. Guess what, three of the names on that list are better than being a rodent that people paid money for tails to destroy the menacing species. Just remember, gopher 'holes has more than one meaning too, and the main meaning of gophers isn't exactly a source of pride. -
Now, can NDSU fans honestly say they would rather travel to Missouri Valley locations, or Big Sky locations? It is a no brainer to me, especially with that environment. So when NDSU has traveled to elite Big Sky schools Eastern Washington and Montana they have lost. Need to make sure they don't get home field advantage in FCS playoffs. They are very beatable by good teams on the road.

...and what nickname did you, or would you offer up that is worthy? -
We do have a North Stars team in town already.

I agree, we can't go by what the rest of the Big Sky is doing, because we are competing for players in this area with NDSU, SDSU and South Dakota, etc. We recruit some of the same players, but Montana and other Western States aren't our recruiting base. This would also give us a leg up on the Montana schools on those players we both are recruiting .

With the way college athletics is going, I really think it is time to make tough decisions now, even if they aren't popular. I think someone else said that mens's and women's swimming weren't Big Sky sports -- start by getting rid of them. They need to take a hard look where they are getting a bang for their buck. Don't wait for ten years, save the money now and put it into being fully competitive in all the sports you choose to participate in.

Yeah, I thought it was strange that Obama would try to use terrorism as an example to try push his gun control agenda. Here's something, if you can first get the guns out of the hands of terrorists, then people might listen at your ideas for gun control for the population as a whole. We can't even identify the terrorists in our country, much less remove guns from their hands. Obama doesn't seem to even want to call them terrorists to begin with, so maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that he wants to diminish their impact to serve an agenda.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2015-16 season
tnt replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Yeah, that would be better, but it beats the one on one scenario of a shootout. I think it will be interesting to see what UND would do with the 3 on 3. Would they go with Nick Schmaltz and Drake Caggiula with a defenseman, or Schmaltz with Stecher and Thompson. Think I would go with 2 defensemen since they have great offensive ability though. Whatever they do, it is going to be some fast paced back and forth action. Hopefully with the skill we have now, it won't be quite so back and forth. -
To me, the situation appears to be the fact that all things being equal on what they are producing in practice, you go with the young guy who didn't get the chance to redshirt, because hypothetically his upside is bigger once he gets a comfort level. If that isn't the case, then I would subscribe to the theory that if you have 3 quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks.

But at least it's not a free throw shooting contest to determine an outcome. It's certainly not perfect, but better than they have now, and it is the way the NHL is heading. -
...and the first thing out of mouths of the politicians is... you guessed it, gun control. Let's see, there were gun restrictions that prevented the military from responding to the Muslim shooter. In Grand Forks, it was an Airman that shot up Walmart. So, who gets the guns then? Do you think that if this guy was denied a gun, he wouldn't have found some way to exact revenge, like pipe bombs or something of the sort? You can't stop hateful people like this, and make no mistake, this was a hate crime, although aren't they all?

Not saying he is on par with Nick, only saying he obviously has talent. A lot of people were concerned about Yon's numbers on a horrible Fargo team. Can't have it both ways.

http://ushlstats.stats.pointstreak.com/scoringleaders.html?leagueid=49&seasonid=11221 He put up pretty similar numbers to Nick Schmaltz a couple years ago. Don't know what his issues were, but seems like a talented player.

What is his connection to Waterloo? Did he coach there before Dubuque, or is the connection just from when his son played there?

I try to eat healthy the majority of the time, but it seems that there are always opposing views on what is good and bad for you. And it isn't always food that the "experts" conflict. Better not use cell phones, lest you die of cancer. If you followed the hysteria, you might not ever want to go out of the house, or eat anything you don't produce yourself. Coffee, eggs, wine, beer -- all bad for you. No, now they are good for you. Personally, I am not going to force myself to have a Todd Marinovich diet, because frankly he turned out to be a mess. Everything in moderation.

Not in the same spokesman mode, but Brendan Lemieux said how much college players were respected in the locker room when his dad played for Montreal, and he still managed to ditch that route. Jost does seem like he really has a great appreciation for the college route though. Would be nice if we could play at Michigan during his tenure here, then Jost could light up Yost.

They weren't on the list of schools it said he was visiting, but who knows.
-
Yeah, thought the same thing. Sounds like he has a wealth of knowledge. Hoping that knowledge translates to a great power play.
-
And there is also Colton Poolman as a defensive recruit.
-
That sounds very familiar to the Ryan Gropp fiasco.
