  1. Accepted! The point being Lucia wasn't there, and though they weren't full fledged members, they did participate in the WCHA playoffs the two years prior.
  2. You nailed it! Mankato joined the WCHA in 1997 and Lucia didn't start coaching Minnesota until 1999. I suppose he was working to get Minnesta to schedule Mankato when he was at CC though. How are we supposed to take information like this seriously.

    2013 Recruiting

It would be nice if he came, but it would be better if someone else fell into our laps and he could see that soft commitments can go both ways.
  5. I thought that happened in Duluth.
  6. Yes, you would think who cares what Sioux fans think. Why the irrational need to come on this website and convince its members of something regarding the gophers. There are definitely some things on GPL that deserve response, but I know that trying to convince them of something is futile, so why respond. I don't need my opinions to be accepted by the GPL crowd, nor would I think the majority of them would feel the need to be accepted here. Not saying differing opinions aren't welcome, but there is a point of "come on".
  7. Given the choice between being a rodent who have a bounty on their tails, and nothing, I would take nothing every time.
  8. Who needs the Garth Snow card, if you look at the polls on GPL over a year ago, a great number of gopher fans thought Lucia wasn't that great either. Nice he could hire back the guy that he threw under the bus though and save his career in the process.
  9. The question now is who is behind not allowing Minnesota players to be interviewed by North Dakota media. Seems odd that you wouldn't be allowed to help promote the series.
  10. Actions speak louder than words. People have given you plenty of circumstances where the actions of the past don't meet up with his concerns or interests now. Obviously the rivalry isn't important to some Minnesota fans because if it is a rivalry the likes of the greats then I can't imagine you would be hearing the kind of talk from those schools as you do from Minnesota, specifically Lucia's words. Actions do speak louder than words, but words count as well, and both don't reflect wanting the continuation of the rivalry, on anything but a very limited basis.
  11. I guess we'll never agree, because Hakstol has bent over backwards holding dates, agreeing to once a year, during midweek, etc. while all you get from Lucia are contradictions to what has been the case up until now. They need to play Bemidji, they really need to play out east more. If you really wanted to get it done you wouldn't be making long-term agreements. Wanting the rivalry and not putting blame on Lucia are at cross purposes. Lucia is the one that is suggesting having a series in Mariucci every four years. I think Doug Woog would be pressing a little harder and using some leverage to make it happen every year, if not every other. My dad may never see another Sioux/Gopher series after this year, and much of that can be attributed to Lucia.
  12. You better tell your gopher cohort Mariucci that Lucia has no say in scheduling of CC or Denver.
  13. If I sound mad, I am, because I hate to see a great rivalry the likes of the ones I mentioned, go by the wayside because of... whatever. It doesn't make sense to me. I would have thought that more Minnesota fans would be mad as well. Guess I was wrong, they seem to want to only tow the company line.
  14. Once again you have contradictions. Lucia wants to play DU and CC you say? I thought this whole thing is because Lucia didn't have control over anything. You were also the one arguing adamantly that Lucia really wants to play this series all the time, but his hands are tied. Your tune changed a little bit when the "unhealthy rivalry" talk came up. It is hard to take you seriously when you continually play both sides. You used to add something to the conversation, now you seem like just a pawn.
  15. Now fill in UND/Minnesota with Ohio State/Michigan, Duke/North Carolina, and fill in there just isn't enough room, and that is how completely ridiculous this sounds. Ohio State really needs to play Youngstown State, or Michigan really needs to play Western Michigan, "There just isn't enough room". I would hope that more gopher fans don't feel the way you feel, because to me those thoughts are just ridiculous.
  16. I think it is funny how the article says that Lucia looks back fondly on Ballard pulling the jersey over Lundbohm's head. That is pure gopher, do something to infuriate the other players, then cry cheap when somebody comes back at you. I guess that shows me that he taught Tony Lucia the same, and why Jones blew up on him.
  17. If you don't think that most of this is Lucia's decision, you are being delusional. I don't think the administration is saying it is an unhealthy rivalry. Where there is smoke there is fire, and the smoke is coming from Lucia. So for years Minnesota didn't play out east, now Lucia is being forced to play out east? I said over a year ago before they even started to schedule Notre Dame and such that Lucia would not want to play and was told by gopher fans that he most certainly did, and then I said the proof would be in the pudding.
  18. How is it misplaced rage when Lucia himself is the one saying they shouldn't play every year. It came from his own mouth that playing once every four years in each teams home rink is fine.
  19. ... and it's not a rivalry worth playing every year according to Lucia. Just wonder how UND fans would react if Hakstol was spouting the same rhetoric that Lucia is. No coach should be bigger than the rivalry.
  20. How insulting is Don Lucia to his own fans by acting like he really wanted to schedule the Sioux but just couldn't because of the nickname. His players really enjoy playing out east. Really? How often did you schedule out east in the last 7 or 8 years? Honesty goes a long way, and I think Lucia has proven that he can't be upfront and just say what is in his mind-- he doesn't like UND, so he isn't scheduling them. And if Minnesota fans think that UND is going to agree to play in the Mariucci classic every year just to get to play them, they have another thing coming.
  21. The funny part is that it was Alt that was taking a run at Frattin. OOPS! Guess we know why Wehrs went flying like he did.
  22. I actually agree that UND probably has more incidents that could be considered cheap. I believe that is because they recruit more players that are physical. Tom Serratore is a perfect example, he is a hard working player that every once in a while gets out of control. Is he a cheap player? No! Does he have hits and circumstances that could be considered cheap? Yes! It isn't because he is in essence a cheap player, it is because he is always physical, therefore he is more apt to have a high hit or late hit, etc. I would classify Cal Clutterbuck in the same way. A lot of other teams think he is cheap. Do you?
  23. Please tell Andrew MacWilliam that reputation doesn't matter to officials!
  24. Really, you would give the nod to Big Ben? Have the fight on tape, and he didn't do anything, except when Hakstol motioned to take off their masks, Hankinson balked.
  25. Demarchi might be one of the sole reasons that there was attention drawn to checking from behind. He might have had more than anybody in college hockey. If it happens a few times o.k., if it happens consistently, it's called dirty.
