  1. Yeah, I thought it was strange that Obama would try to use terrorism as an example to try push his gun control agenda. Here's something, if you can first get the guns out of the hands of terrorists, then people might listen at your ideas for gun control for the population as a whole. We can't even identify the terrorists in our country, much less remove guns from their hands. Obama doesn't seem to even want to call them terrorists to begin with, so maybe it shouldn't be a surprise that he wants to diminish their impact to serve an agenda.
  2. Yeah, that would be better, but it beats the one on one scenario of a shootout. I think it will be interesting to see what UND would do with the 3 on 3. Would they go with Nick Schmaltz and Drake Caggiula with a defenseman, or Schmaltz with Stecher and Thompson. Think I would go with 2 defensemen since they have great offensive ability though. Whatever they do, it is going to be some fast paced back and forth action. Hopefully with the skill we have now, it won't be quite so back and forth.

    2015 season

To me, the situation appears to be the fact that all things being equal on what they are producing in practice, you go with the young guy who didn't get the chance to redshirt, because hypothetically his upside is bigger once he gets a comfort level. If that isn't the case, then I would subscribe to the theory that if you have 3 quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks.
  4. But at least it's not a free throw shooting contest to determine an outcome. It's certainly not perfect, but better than they have now, and it is the way the NHL is heading.
  5. ...and the first thing out of mouths of the politicians is... you guessed it, gun control. Let's see, there were gun restrictions that prevented the military from responding to the Muslim shooter. In Grand Forks, it was an Airman that shot up Walmart. So, who gets the guns then? Do you think that if this guy was denied a gun, he wouldn't have found some way to exact revenge, like pipe bombs or something of the sort? You can't stop hateful people like this, and make no mistake, this was a hate crime, although aren't they all?
  6. Not saying he is on par with Nick, only saying he obviously has talent. A lot of people were concerned about Yon's numbers on a horrible Fargo team. Can't have it both ways.
  7. http://ushlstats.stats.pointstreak.com/scoringleaders.html?leagueid=49&seasonid=11221 He put up pretty similar numbers to Nick Schmaltz a couple years ago. Don't know what his issues were, but seems like a talented player.
  8. What is his connection to Waterloo? Did he coach there before Dubuque, or is the connection just from when his son played there?
  9. I try to eat healthy the majority of the time, but it seems that there are always opposing views on what is good and bad for you. And it isn't always food that the "experts" conflict. Better not use cell phones, lest you die of cancer. If you followed the hysteria, you might not ever want to go out of the house, or eat anything you don't produce yourself. Coffee, eggs, wine, beer -- all bad for you. No, now they are good for you. Personally, I am not going to force myself to have a Todd Marinovich diet, because frankly he turned out to be a mess. Everything in moderation.
  10. Not in the same spokesman mode, but Brendan Lemieux said how much college players were respected in the locker room when his dad played for Montreal, and he still managed to ditch that route. Jost does seem like he really has a great appreciation for the college route though. Would be nice if we could play at Michigan during his tenure here, then Jost could light up Yost.
  11. They weren't on the list of schools it said he was visiting, but who knows.
  12. Yeah, thought the same thing. Sounds like he has a wealth of knowledge. Hoping that knowledge translates to a great power play.
  13. And there is also Colton Poolman as a defensive recruit.
  14. That sounds very familiar to the Ryan Gropp fiasco.
  15. What I find amusing, or troubling, whichever way you want to look at it, is that the committee went out of it's way to get rid of nicknames that dealt with only one department of the university, and that limited the possibilities of coming up with a combination of names that could have worked well together. If they were bound and determined to include the name hawks, then why not at least find some unique aspect and offer up Aero Hawks?
  16. Yeah, that's it, you feel bad for Red River, that's why you said you would possibly leave town if it came about! Give me a break!
  17. Yeah, just the back and forth on this message board early on should have been a clue to the passion that would be exhibited when you have it as an option then pull the rug out from underneath the no nickname crowd. Inconceivable how smart people couldn't see this coming.
  18. We have far more claim to the name Winterhawks than Portland!
  19. But I thought the committee got rid of all of those names right from the start. That is why I assumed names like Trailblazers and such weren't kept but names like Spirit, Pride, etc. were. If they go down that path at the end, then you really have to wonder if anybody has any common sense at all with such supposed intellectuals.
  20. Maybe because many people on the committee realize that we will just be going down the same road with protests from Native Americans and the intellectual elite, and that most of the people that want a nickname can't stand to see another 20 years of this crap going on in the media. It turns out now though that it will be another group that drags this conversation on for another 20 years.
  21. He was the one who kept saying remaining North Dakota was an option. Why say that at all when he wants a new nickname?
  22. Never mind blaming everything on the hockey only crowd.
  23. PBS, channel 597 has a show on tonight at 10 about Teddy Roosevelt's time in North Dakota, and how it made him. Gotta love his rugged individualism and never back down attitude. Kind of person the state could be proud of -- wait, we should find a name that supports people that are constantly victims.
