  1. Since Denver has skilled, patient scorers, if Thome is flopping all over, the puck will more than likely end up in the back of the net. Hopefully he is positionally sound and doesn't give the puck away trying to puck handle or clear the zone.
  2. You would think that it would be a short stint for conditioning, otherwise it just makes Joe Sakic and company look like they care more about Canada's lot for the World Juniors.
  3. I laugh at his talk about all the misinformation that is still going around. Of course his reporting was very objective.
  4. John W. hasn't figured out the maturing part yet, being a 70 year old that hangs out in his basement and lives to troll.
  5. Despite playing fewer games than most, Cruikshank is the leading goal scorer for Penticton, a team loaded with over half the team committed to colleges. He should be a very good pickup for somebody.
  6. Just wondering, as it seems some get their hands so close to the blade, then practically get down on their knees to get down so low. Figured it would be hard to do when tall, but I suppose they might do that because they are operating from a disadvantage and that is the only way they can compensate. So many different strategies, just really interesting to observe that little game within a game.
  7. It seems like sometimes big guys take a while to figure out how to leverage their size, and once they do they take off. I like the fact that Weatherby realized he had things to work on including skating, and did so to earn this opportunity. Still hopeful Mattson figures out how to best capitalize on his frame and puts it together. If they both play center, it would be two of the taller centers we've had. Would that height be an advantage or disadvantage on faceoffs?

Don't know if this analogy is that pertinent. They had all their skill players on offense, which typically make up your first two lines in hockey. Sure they lost a few offensive lineman and the rest were young, but look at how the young players are doing for UND in hockey. Bottom line is it is apples to oranges, so why try draw that type of analogy. There was a time when UND couldn't even dress a full lineup in hockey, yet made a run at getting to another Frozen Four.
  9. But he just decommitted now, so perhaps he thought bringing in Brock would push him back a year. Don't know, but he knew they had too many verbals for a while, but perhaps surmised this would really create a logjam, especially for the year he may have been hoping to come in.
  10. https://www.ushr.com/news/20150711/5392?label=Select-17-Forwards:-The-Top-75 Just to show how things can change in a couple years with such young commitments. A lot of familiar names on this list including Weatherby. Don't think Garrett Wait has the upside people once projected.
  11. Wonder if he knows something about whether the Caufield brothers are going to commit there.
  12. Exactly, Penticton hasn't been a really high scoring team the last few years compared to others, that's why I mentioned Jones' percentage of his team goals last year was very comparable to Kawaguchi's, at least regular season numbers. Keane is putting up similar numbers to Dixon Bowen, but they don't inspire confidence moving to the next level. Hopefully we can get something out of Keane like we do out of Bowen. We know what his dad gave night in and night out in the NHL.
  13. The Caps aren't going to want him to stay and risk losing him after his Senior season, but the Free Agent route might be best for Gersich because he can pick a team that is dire need of forwards with speed and tenacity.

Especially for the kind of football they want to play. When it is predicated on having a great offensive line and yours would be bottom of the pile in that league, you have work to do.
  15. Yeah, when you're team is scoring 28 goals in a game, not sure if the numbers are something to take too much stock in.

    Who recruits the players?
  17. There are plenty of guys that back out on verbal commitments, it is probably more about if they were approached to do so by a school. We might be a little naive to think it doesn't happen a little more than we are led to believe, it's just a matter of if the guy flips or not.

True, but if they aren't the right coaches you are just pushing it off until the next year, and if you have an upswing not related to said coach, you could end up losing a higher caliber recruit.
  19. I say keep the gentleman's agreement in place, except that now Denver's recruits are open game. Wouldn't mind Tyler Ward.
  20. Heisenberg has it on his site now too.
  21. Just saying Wong better be committed to the school because Monty will be gone.
  22. If he's committing to Denver, he may end up there, but the coaching staff will most likely change.

So how many people will renew their season tickets that got them for the first time this year? I know a guy and his wife from work that just got them this year isn't going to renew. Can't blame him when you can predict the play calling.
  24. This^^ If a team as loaded as Denver has some growing pains through the first month and a half, I think the ability to win while working in a bunch of freshmen bodes well down the road for us. Hopefully our upside continues to grow along with "The Process". I can't think of many teams we can't beat, but in the same token, we could lose to a lot of teams too if we aren't playing the type of defensive game that gives us the chance to win without needing to light up the scoreboard.
  25. Motzko is always pissed about calls.
