  1. Channel 790 on DirecTV a cording to the guide. Depends on your package I suppose.......
  2. That's not true! Not referencing jdub specifically of course at all, but if NDSU went FBS, 90% of UNDs football fan base would be frothing at the mouth that the same move would need to happen the next day for us. If NDSU did away with scholarships and joined the Pioneer league, it would be the same scenario. Where they go, we will follow. The fanbase won't accept a schedule that doesn't have The Bison on it. That's why we are moving to the SumValley, no other reason. It is so perplexing to me that we voluntarily left a conference that FBS schools are apparently willing to drop down a level to join, while at the same time our new conference is wondering what DII schools could possibly be convinced to join.................
  3. Champions in one of the best FCS conferences in Year #3..........…
  4. Honestly, the defense is the primary driver of success for every team that contends for a championship, regardless of the level of play. Aside from the injury plagued 2017 season, I've seen mostly quality play on the defensive side of the ball during Bubbas regime, and that includes the limited sample size of the current season. I never coached high school football, but I'm not sure what I've seen from the offense two games into this season constitutes a "liabality" yet. We are averaging over 200 yds a game on the ground so far, and one of the opponents we did it against is in the conversation to make the FBS playoff. I really doubt my favorite squad has as bad of a showing offensively against any opponent the rest of the season as they did this past weekend against a team that may very will be playing on New Years Days ............
  5. I agree the offense is still an unknown commodity at this point. But again I say that we are on track to have a season more similar to 2016 than 2017. This team showed the ability to score some points from time to time in '16. It will take all cogs of the machine working together of course. I'm really encouraged by 7 sacks against MVSU and forcing two turnovers against a Top 10 FBS program. We run the type of offense that benefits from a defense that puts the O in good positions. After two games I've seen enough to feel that we have a defense that is capable of doing that..........
  6. I am looking at the Sam Houston game as an opportunity for the program as a whole to prove that the 2016 season was no fluke. I've always been in the camp that Bubba has had had this program on the right track overall. He made this team better each season since he got there until the injury filled season of 2017. I felt that despite the team's improvement from 2014-16, the depth just still wasn't there to overcome what happened last season. Hopefully I'm proven right this Saturday. Sam Houston is a quality team, and honestly a poor matchup for UND. But they are also a typical "soft" and "finesse" team that are so common in today's day and age of spread offenses. This is the type of team we should be able to beat any time of year, but it needs to happen on the field. North Dakota 37 SHSU 31
  7. I could be wrong, bit I believe it is bidding process for the first round. After that, the NCAA helps out with costs.....
  8. Me-Thinks Geno's college career is likely over. Hope he is happy with his decision. No big loss IMO.........
  9. When was the last time you played Tecmo Super Bowl? Flea-Flicker is the obvious way to go!
  10. Layman's look at last night's game: Ketteringham looked solid. Harris had a tough night. Not sure if it is confidence or rust, but hopefully gets better Regardless of the final rushing stats, I felt the offensive line was underwhelming, at least in the first half. I liked the aggressive nature of the front 7. The secondary might be bad for a while. I think the best help they can have is by having the DL and LBs getting after the QB as much as possible. Live by the sword, die by the sword type of thing. Special teams were atrocious in all phases.

    UND-MVSU

I am shocked that Cam Hunt isn't on the two deep. His play at the end of last season when he got healthy was very impressive ........

    2018 Season

I'd like to the see the National Championship trophy on display at the Alerus as well.......
  13. Home opener will draw over 10,000................
  14. I agree that Zimmerman looked solid in relief duty last season. But I was happy to see Ketteringham named the started. I feel he is a proven commodity at this level of play, and I remember being impressed by his play while following his season in the Big Sky a couple years ago when he was at Sac St......
  15. I don't know if Weber St. will go FBS or not, but IMO this news just illustrates how ludicrous it was for North Dakota to voluntarily leave the Big Sky Conference. The Big Sky seems to have universities willing to invest in their programs. On the other hand, the SumValley seems to have schools wondering how they are going to keep the lights on in their gyms and stadiums............ People think of the Big Sky as a football league because of the Montana schools, but for me, just as big a draw to that league for me was Weber St. Their basketball pedigree far exceeds anything that the Summit can offer and its not even close.
  16. I like SiouxVolley's thought process. He sees the big picture. Whether he is right or wrong, time will tell I suppose. He wants UND to go nationwide in all sports, like we are in hockey. It seems like 90% of folks here would be happy with tippy toeing into Fargo. The Big Sky offered us a huge opportunity to set ourselves apart, but for some reason few seemed to embrace it, including the fanbase and administration. IMO, slamming the door on the Big Sky will go down as an even bigger mistake to the athletic department as it was to wait 5 years to join DI after UNC, SDSU, an NDSU did. Honestly, the nickname fiasco has been handled far better than conference affiliation issues. And that's not saying much...........
  17. Just watched, WDAZ's coverage of media day. They touched on the QB competition. Did I hear him say that Zimmerman is a Captain? If so, that may say a lot................... WDAZ

    UND-MVSU

I'm thinking 56-10 in favor of the F'n Hawks for this one.....................................
  19. I'm in the camp that attendance will take care of itself as best as it can based on the product on the field. The product was crappy last year so I expect a dip this year, but a good start to the season can do a lot to remedy that. As far as the student attendance goes...........I'm 40 years old, and the parent of a college student. Students are young people and I know from experience that young people are stupid. That's just the way it is. They will show up in full force for the first game, and it will decline each week from there. It is what it is. As others have, said it isn't unique to UND, or even UND football. The student section is shrinking at UND hockey games as well. Some of them will regret it in 10-20 years when they are forking over Champion Club fees for similar seats that are free right now and driving 100 miles to get to games like I am now.............................. I tried to explain it to my kid, but there isn't an app for it yet.........................

    2018 Season

I am confident that we are going to give Sam Houston a surprise........................
  21. The mirror scheduling in the Big Sky was ideal. Fans always knew there was going to be a basketball game in the Sioux Center every single Thursday or Saturday all winter long. The Big Sky seemed very accomodating to UND's hockey schedule. We were normally the only team to have afternoon conference games on Saturdays if i recall correctly................ This Summit schedule screams small time to me. It reminds me of the NAIA scheduling that the North Dakota schools do like Jamestown U, and Mayville St. Basketball comes before hockey for me, but as someone who travels with a family 100 miles or so for games, its going to be tough to make Wednesday nights work. But........we all know we made the move so we can play NDSU more often, because that is what the fanbase yearns for. I expect there won't be a ticket available for that all important NDSU game in February on a Wednesday night.......................So I guess I'll just stay home and figure out how to watch it the InterWebs................ And the Mens/Womens double headers? What a joke. Lets just join the DAC-10 if that's still an option. Nobody wants to be at a college basketball event for 5 hours. The iPhones in the student section will be out of batterty power long before the second game starts their warm ups.......................
  22. The Summit's scheduling is brutal.....................
  23. Ryan Cunningham on KNOX is an excellent play by play guy for any sport it seems. I really enjoy listening to him regardless if it is hockey, football, basketball, or volleyball. He does a tremendous job in my opinion. I'd love to hear him doing UND games in some fashion in the future..........
  24. Seriously, if the Red Pepper's grinders are actually worse than they were before, they must be horrible now.................. I've tried it numerous times and have never have understood the infatuation with that place. Given the choice, I prefer a Flatlander microwave grinder out of the gas station cooler over what the Red Pepper offers..................
