  1. Agree with this. It is very difficult to get excited about the type of basketball Jones has us playing. Montana played a much cleaner and fundamentally sound game. It was a close game and one we could've won because we had the better athletes. If we had average to above average coaching, we win this game.
  2. Let Darell be Darell in this thread. As long as he keeps it here and doesn't bring it to the other forums/threads it's all good.
  3. I would agree with different types of shoes that are made by Adidas and may work better than others for certain people. One would think that exceptions could be made based on need of the athlete if it indeed was warranted. In other words a doctor/trainer sign off on it. Not sure if that type of exception even exists or doctor's/trainers would do something like that. I know shoes can be modified with orthotics as well. Since we aren't privy to all of the details of de Rouen's injury history or the wording of the deal with Adidas, all we can do is speculate or make assumptions. As has been stated, other schools sign these deals, including deals with Adidas, so not sure what the hold up is on our case. Hopefully it's not truly a case of the basketball team refusing to sign off.
  4. To be fair, some people do have issues with shoes. As a runner, I have learned that their are definitely certain shoes I will not wear. I'm assuming their maybe some of this with bball as well.
  5. Well at least now we know why the basketball team has had more than it's fair share of concussion issues.
  6. No thanks. I intend to go to the Stony Brook game. May even stay out east all week and go to the BGSU game the following week.
  7. Just a guess: Women's Hockey, increased scholarships for football, and increased travel costs while already being near maxed out in advertising revenue. Keep in mind I have no knowledge on any of UND's budget numbers...
  8. Personally I would be fine with both ND and BGSU or ASU. I may be in the minority for Sioux fans, but I would like to see College Hockey continue to expand and one way of doing that is to get the "big" schools involved. Although BGSU isn't a big school, they are a true DI school and will be nice for Miami if they are in the conference. Both ND and ASU bring name recognition which helps, regardless of the hockey tradition or lack thereof. I would love to beat ND on NBCSports year in and year out...
  9. I agree with a lot of this post. I'm definitely not a Jones supporter but I do believe the next two years will determine his fate as UND's head coach. We have some nice pieces in place with Hooker and Shanks. Add in Crandall, Seales, and even potentially Cashmen and that's a pretty good corp, especially for Big Sky play. It would be nice to start to get a signature win or two out of conference, but that will be the exception, not the norm. I do expect that we are at least competitive out of conference and not losing to schools like NDSU by 30+ points, but I do realize wins against big schools won't happen on a regular basis. I do think we have a realistic shot at making the dance in the next year or two. If we don't, then I will say it's time to look elsewhere.
  10. You have to give him a break jdub27, he doesn't have any other basketball insight to give so he does what he does best...#gettingold#gotnothingelse
  11. That and he didn't want to play defense. Bohl wanted to move him to lb. He's also friends with Will James...or maybe it was Dylan Bakker.
  12. Rather timely article http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-basketball/3669541-und-point-guard-emerging-star
  13. For what it's worth, I have flown out of gfk on the same plane as the Women's team...also was on a return flight into gfk with men's team.
  14. A lateral move that paid 3 or 4 times the salary he had at NDSU I believe.
  15. Not sure, could be the case. He is still listed on the roster for the UND app...but then again, so is Cheatom.
  16. I think he is saying that Woodsmall should help ease the loss of Cheatom, just as Tank Harris should.
  17. That and the Big Sky Conference is a pretty weak basketball conference. I would agree with North Dakota, that I haven't see a whole lot of improvement over the course of the year with past teams. New team this year so we will see... Edit: Outside of Weber, there really isn't a "basketball" school in the conference. I don't see Montana as being a great basketball program. If UND made basketball any kind of a priority, I could see the program become a perennial contender for the conference crown and challenge Weber on a regular basis. Sadly, I haven't seen much of an effort put into improving the program as a whole. Hopefully I'm wrong about that...
  18. Either do I, but I do know that it has no relevance to the 2014 FCS playoffs.
  19. Looks like the committee gave a "Do not pass" recommendation for the bill...thank God. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/education/3655556-und-nickname-moratorium-bill-gets-do-not-pass-recommendation
  20. Yep...here a tweet he sent out...From 2012, but shows where his mind is at...
  21. Agreed...UND needs to treat all of its sports as DI programs.
  22. They only interviewed two people. Do you live in GF? I've seen more NDSU gear, license plates etc in the last couple years than at anytime in my 20 years in GF. I would be fine if we were the MSU to U of Michigan, etc. I just hope we don't become the Ohio-to-Ohio State, or the Idaho-to-Boise St. In comparison to NDSU.
  23. This is not the type of article I like to see on the GFHerald. It's not only Bubba that's got his work cut out for him but the whole Athletic Department as a whole needs to get to work selling UND athletics. http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/3652906-ndsu-fans-take-over-und-territory-fcs-championship
