  1. Good for Evers and the Women't Program. Good luck to her! http://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/3711597-und-womens-basketball-evers-lands-pro-tryout
  2. So maybe you can answer why UND, a DI flagship school, is paying its coach the lowest or close to the lowest salary in all of DI?
  3. Invite the Montana's... ;-)
  4. I still think the best option is for some sort of merger between Big Sky and Summit/MVFC. UND NDSU USD SDSU UNI (maybe replace with Northern Arizona) UNC MONTANA MONTANA ST. IDAHO EWU OMAHA DENVER It will never happen, but would be a darn good conference. Also, better potential to go FBS...
  5. Although it's not an apples to apples comparison, look at what happened in Idaho with the University of Idaho and Boise St. At one time, Boise State was a junior college. Boise is the largest city in Idaho and used that to it's advantage in gaining sponsorship's, focusing on sports, etc. Are they the best University in the Idaho? Academically no, but athletically, yes. Does this mean UND should sell out and focus only on athletics, of course not. But if we continue to be oblivious to what Fargo and NDSU are doing, we may end up in a similar scenario. NDSU has a lot of momentum in gaining fans around the state. Many people feel they can support UND hockey while supporting NDSU athletics since NDSU doesn't sponsor hockey. Our Athletic Department needs to realize this and start promoting and supporting all of our athletic teams better.
  6. One of them didn't transfer in this last year. Transferred in 2013-14 and sat that season. He played this year. That should pretty much narrow it down.
  7. How about this as a hint...it's not Coleman. At least according to UND-FB's original post. No idea how accurate his initial info was tho.
  8. Seems pretty obvious which ones to me, even with already seeing the names. At least one is pretty obvious anyways. Was this reported anywhere btw or just word of mouth?
  9. You have no inside knowledge of this?!? I'm shocked. Btw, it was my attempt at humor based on who isn't coming back and their opinion on wearing Adidas shoes. I have no idea if the Adidas deal is any closer to be done.
  10. Did a quick search on both this morning. Seems as tho the asking price for SRO is $300-$350 per ticket package. Still more than im willing to pay.
  11. You never want wish ill will on a student athlete but hopefully this will be addition through subtraction. On a side note, maybe this means the Adidas deal got done...
  12. Any idea if that was the players choice or a coaches decision? Edit: looks like you edited your post and removed the names...
  13. The reason I believe it is a pivotal game is because NDSU is the current standard of what it takes to be a championship calibre program. They are what every other FCS program is aspiring to. Do I thinks this means we have to beat them next year? No. I want to see where we stack up against the best of FCS, which is currently NDSU. It also would be nice to get some respectability back from some of the in state football fans who think our program is a "joke" or beneath NDSU. A good showing against NDSU will go a long way in turning the program around a getting people in ND to see/believe in what Bubba is doing. The majority of football fans in ND wouldn't see the ISU game in the same light. In fact the majority of fans think ISU is a perennial doormat in FCS, and don't have a clue as to what their new coach is starting to build there.
  14. I kind of chuckled when he suggested our pivotal game is against Idaho St. I would like to think that our pivotal game is against NDSU. Win or lose, the game in Fargo will show what types of strides are being made by our team.
  15. Let's just call it constructive criticism. I do think we have some good players with some big potential coming in. Kudos to Jones and company for being able to recruit, which is just one aspect of running a solid DI program. Is that worded better?
  16. Great to hear that we appear to have some talented kids coming into the program. The question to be answered is how Jones and his staff develop that talent. Thus far his track record for developing his players is not that good as we have seen little progress from year one in the program to the last year in the program for many of his players. If he is going to keep his job, that will need to improve.
  17. Quick question, anyone know what face value is for the SRO tix?
  18. My opinion... the front runners as of now are Rough Riders or Nokota (Nokes). Would also like to see the Norse or Norsemen, but I don't believe UND will want to go down the road of taking the name of an ethnic group again. If it were Nodaks, what would a logo or mascot look like? A scandanavian warrior of sorts???
  19. Do you have a link? Edit: Nevermind, I found the article... http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/business/3698674-developers-see-need-more-grand-forks-office-space
  20. I'll take a shot...Motley Crue? They are in Denver on Friday, July 31st and Winnipeg on Monday, August 3rd. One would think they might try to find a Saturday or Sunday show somewhere between here and Denver...
  21. IF you truly are on the inside of the athletic department for UND, then we have some pretty big issues. I don't necessarily agree with getting rid of Jones this season, but there are obviously some red flags with his coaching performance. To say otherwise is just foolish...
  22. Moving to DI, my preference was for joining the Summit/MVFC. The way Douple acted and the fact that football wasn't included made it clear that the Big Sky was the way to go. Having said that, I believe the Summit is improving and heading in the right direction. History shows lots of teams coming and going, but it looks like the long term plan is to center on the I-29 corrider with the Dakotas and Omaha. We all know how great the NCC was as a DII conference. Many even had the opinion that it was as good or better as some of the lower DI conferences. So, if the Summit becomes NCC 2.0, it may become the better option. Of course football would need to come with. I would like to see us in a conference with the Dakota schools, Omaha, and the Montana Schools. Throw in a 2-4 team combination of Idaho, Denver, UNC (someone needs to be the cellar dweller) and maybe EWU, and you have a pretty solid conference if you ask me.
  23. As a town I don't mind living in Grand Forks, I enjoy the greenway, UND sports and an occasional night out on the town. I just don't like the mentality of the people and probably more specifically, the city officials. They seem to be anti-development. They don't go out of their way to welcome new business and industry into town. I'm not sure if there truly is a "GOBC" in town, but at times there sure seems like it. The biggest dilema the City Council seems to be working on right now has to do with extreme drink specials. There are many other issues I would like to see our elected officials worry about other than drink specials at a privately run business, or making sure SpringFest doesn't happen. Much like the UND athletic department, GF officials seem content with the status quo...at least on the business side of things.
