  1. Unfortunately this sums up the difference between UND and NDSU. NDSU had a vision for moving to DI, worked hard, and saw their vision realized. They deserve all of the accolades they are getting because they had a plan and executed it. On the other hand, our University did not...at least from my perspective and alot of the general publics perspective. We dragged our feet when the idea of moving DI first came about. After realizing that we would be left behind, we decided to move up. However, every part of the transition, from hiring coaches, to scheduling, to what our talking heads were saying to the media about the move, seemed disjointed with everyone on a different page. Granted we had the nickname issue hanging over us, but again, we were late to the party on that and should have been more proactive with building relationships with the tribes. It seems as though our Atheltic department reacts to what NDSU and other regional Universities are doing, rather than being proactive. Just my .02 cents...
  2. Here you go; http://www.bigskyfans.com/wildcats/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4971 And a quote from the UND vs Weber St. game thread: by webergrad02 ยป Fri Jan 30, 2015 7:38 am Watching last nights game pointed out me what our problem is. We are playing like North Dakota this year: Multiple guys playing out of position Lots of good athletes but not necessarily basketball players Individual focus rather than a team mentality There are a few differences: We do run plays different than high screen and roll Our coach isn't the worst coach in the Big Sky
  3. Agree with your post. In regards to what else he can do, he can play the players that do as he asks and that play within his system. Sure we might not win a lot of games, but did we win a lot of games playing the better "player/athlete?" This is where I think his biggest downfall is. He lets players continue to make the same mistakes. If he wants to send a message, sit those players, make them run more in practice, do whatever it takes to send the message home. Maybe he's done all of this, maybe he hasn't. If he has, then he needs to reevaluate the type of player he's recruiting to his teams.
  4. Mussman also coached in one of the better FCS football conferences. Brian Jones is coaching in one of the worst Basketball conferences. I believe we are currently the 27th ranked bball conference. Typically outside of Weber and Montana, there are not good basketball schools in the Big Sky. This year is an exception as Weber is down and EWU is up.
  5. I am far from a Jones supporter, but I just don't see UND getting rid of him. If they do decide to part ways, would the lure of a trip to Italy keep any of the players from transferring?
  6. And the Herald's version of the sa And the Herald's version of the same story... http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/3693567-fire-kelley-was-response-springfest-alcohol-ordinances-new-nickname
  7. Good point. Time to build a practice arena for the hockey teams.
  8. There are plenty of arenas to look at as examples of how this could look. MSG manages to make it work for the Rangers, Knicks, concerts, and countless other events they hold. It obviously can be done. The question is, does REA/UND want it done? So far we've seen what that answer has been...
  9. To me, it depends on how they set it up. If they leave the hockey boards up, then yes, it is dumb. If they take the boards down, then I am fine with it. Wisconsin seems to do alright with doing this at the Kohl Center or Creighton at Centruy link. Probably costs a bit more and takes a bit more time but when the hockey boards are left up, it just looks kind of shows that even when basketball is played there, hockey still comes first. Does anyone know if they take the boards down for concerts?
  10. True...I think it's a pretty big deal when UNI comes to town. They were ranked #10 in the country and played on CBS last weekend. They ended up losing to Wichita State, but they have a great team. Looking forward to seeing them if they do come next year.
  11. Kansas only came because of Jeff Boschee. Would need to get a ND player on Minny's roster and have the coach be as good of a guy as Roy William's was in order to get the Goof's to GF.
  12. Is this Mrs. Darrell? Simple question...
  13. Yes, we had too many turnovers, agree. But there were 2 moving screen calls against Evers, including her 5th foul that the announcers also didn't think we're fouls. The 5th foul on Evers and Szabla were questionable at best and they came in OT and double OT respectively. Hate to see the refs make those calls and not let the teams determine the game. The offensive foul on Lloyd (?) after the offensive rebound at the end of the game (10 seconds or so left) was a foul and the right call. The other 2, not so much.
  14. It's unfortunate that the reffing is ao bad in the Big Sky. Questionable call against szabla for her 5th foul when it appeared NAU had turned the ball over.
  15. Would be nice to pull this one out considering they trailed the majority of the game. Gonna be tough with Evers fouled out.
  16. 2.17 seconds :-) Edit: switched to 3 now
  17. Some questionable reffing in this game as well.
  18. Dang..two shots to win at the buzzer. Going to OT
  19. UND should be able to get the last shot.
  20. Great comeback. Tied with 43 seconds to go. NAU has the ball.
  21. Looks like Sac. State got preliminary permission to hold the Men's Big Sky BBall tourney at their "Wellness Center," otherwise known as The Well. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/02/20/big-sky-approves-home-for-conference-tournament-should-sacramento-state-win-regular-season-title/ http://thewell.csus.edu/
  22. I would switch 1 and 2 at least most years. Win the Big Sky, your automatically in. Next year that would be a pretty big jump to take.
  23. Griz gonna win this one. Up by 15 with under 2:00 to go,
  24. 51-39 with a little over 5 minutes to play.
