    If the NCHC had done a true crossover tourney (1E v 4W style) I'm quite sure 2W (Omaha) wanted no part of 3E (WMU). Crossover brackets would've been: UND / Miami Omaha / WMU DU / UMD CC / SCSU

    Do any of the potential freshman play center? Besides Weatherby, Senden, and Jamernik*, is there another responsible center on the existing roster? That's where I see the biggest problem. The roster could use a fourth (and maybe fifth) center. *Yes, I just called Jamernik, a guy with 19 career games, a responsible center at this level.

    Senden as captain is a gimme. I think Weatherby (alternate this year also) is a safe bet. There are three seniors ... (Senden, Weatherby, ...) ... Hain? Frisch is the lead by example quiet leader type. If you're looking to have the next captain in the queue ... Sanderson ... the last sophomore with an extra letter on the jersey I recall is Jonathan Toews. That's a tough standard even for Sanderson. They rolled five this year (Guch, JBD, Kierstad, Senden, Weatherby). If they roll five again, it's those.

    As far as direct funding from Athletics, yes. But if one of the players qualifies and earns a non-athletic scholarship and is a "Covid-year", that works. Normally non-athletic scholarships count against the NCAA total, but that is waived for the Covid-extra-year players.

    Wow ... just wow. I found this just now looking up Jake Sanderson's DOB. His father Geoff is partner in Breakaway Matting (equipment for oil and gas industry). His business partner is Brendan Morrison (Hobie winner that played at Michigan). And yes, that Brendan Morrison is of the infamous 1997 Frozen Four quote " ... sometimes the best team doesn't win" after Michgan's semis loss. That quote came full circle.

    Jake Sanderson turns 19 in July. (Soak on that a bit ... that was an 18 year old flying around in 3, 4, and 5 OT.) His dad (Geoff) played a "couple days" in The National. Sanderson will make the best decision for his development.
