Ahem, you said "nothing".  Winning conference championships is "something".

Obviously the bar is quite a bit higher than winning conference trophies, but winning them is one of the goals the teams strive for during the season.  It is not the ulitmate goal of the players, coaches, or fans, but a goal nonetheless.
We forget when su was in the GWC it was a powerful football conference, a crime that the NCAA did not change the rules and allow the conference champ into the playoffs, once they left everything changed.

If that gets UND to where they (Montanas) are going sooner or later (FBS conference), why not?

The Missouri Valley is a "destination" non-FBS conference. NDSU hopes to get there.

The Big Sky is a "destination" non-FBS conference. UND is there.

Everyone knows the Missouri Valley is a big step above the Big Sky.  UNI, Creighton, etc.  A MVC invite is something I don't except NDSU to get...at least not if the MVC remains as good as it currently is.

The five football playing teams in the GWFC were solid and you know it. Nice try troll.
Their records show different - no big wins period.  Although they did smoke some NAIA & DII teams.

When you only have four conference games you have to travel a bit more to unfamiliar or higher tier teams. That doesn't help the win column much; especially when you have to play more than one FBS team. Also Poly played Montana in an OOC game, at Montana of course. Just a couple quick examples.

Poly was a jekyll and hyde team last year.  No sure if they had alot of injuries or what, they did play UM tough.

Think about this:

The University of North Dakota mens hockey team is being "busted on" for just accomplishing ...

- a national championship game lost in OT
- another national championship game appearance
- four other Frozen Four appearances (national semi-finalist)
- a Broadmoor Trophy three-in-a-row (never done before), plus another in 2006
- four MacNaughton Cups
- a Hobey Baker winner

... in just the last 12 seasons. (Go back 13 and you have a National Championship and another Broadmoor.)

That's fifty years for some college programs. Other college programs can't claim even parts of that.

Yeah, UND Hockey: the bar is set pretty high.
I thought this was a football forum.  Why do people keep bringing up hockey?

Because the Fargo Forum insisted on comparing football and hockey.

My question for Bison FB fans:
If your FB program is so great, why the need to compare it to a niche sport that nobody outside of Grand Forks cares about?

A little early to be tipping the MD 20/20, isn't it?

Because this was the question that was posed:

You do realize that a large portion of the 19M goes to hockey - right?  How's all that money done for you lately?  NOTHING!

Obviously great last year, over 12,000 season tickets sold this year, tailgating lots full with over 200 on a waiting list, 5-3 in FBC games - yes by any measure they have done great since moving up.  (should be good the next few years also)  FCC did the comparison not NDSU.

NDSU has been great since moving up.   They were even great a couple of years ago when they only won 3 games.  They were  definitely geat even if  it wasn't showing up in the win column.
