GeauxSioux Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 This one should appeal to those who like Cavalry, hockey fans and Goon, especially. Dragoons Dragoons were originally infantrymen deployed by horse, but later became cavalry. They were therefore trained in horse riding as well as infantry fighting skills. Dragoon regiments were established in most European armies during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Originally dragoons were considered as separate from regular cavalry, but during the 18th century they evolved into conventional mounted troops trained to fight from horseback. I watched "Patriot" over the weekend and heard the term used often. Quote
GeauxSioux Posted December 22, 2009 Author Posted December 22, 2009 so would goon in drag be the mascot Hadn't thought of that. Probably too easily mocked. Back to the drawing board. Quote

jodcon Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 Goon in Drag? Think of a blond version of this: There's not enough alcohol in the world to make that look good at closing time. Quote
Goon Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 There's not enough alcohol in the world to make that look at closing time. I would rather go without. Quote
redwing77 Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I don't have that much facial hair. Ok, and you're not a brunette either. Sue me. Quote
Goon Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Ok, and you're not a brunette either. Sue me. Is thining hair a hair style? Salt and pepper would be the right color. Quote
Big A HG Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Goon WAS paying me not to share this photo, but I think it's pretty much priceless to show it. Quote
redwing77 Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Now THAT is an accurate photograph! Quote
Goon Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 Now THAT is an accurate photograph! Kind of resembles you... Quote

Goon Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Don't play the slippery eel with us. It's you and you know it. I could go a week without shaving and still couldn't have a beard that thick. Quote
redwing77 Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I could go a week without shaving and still couldn't have a beard that thick. The Fruit lady (aka you) doesn't have a beard. Quote
Big A HG Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Need I say more?! Hehehe Sorry Goon, I had to take advantage of that facebook pic. Quote
Goon Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 [ Need I say more?! Hehehe Sorry Goon, I had to take advantage of that facebook pic. That doesn't look anything like me. Just ask my dog Dakota. Quote
redwing77 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 That doesn't look anything like me. Just ask my dog Dakota. We don't have a picture of you wearing a Chicita Banana fruit hat like the one above to compare. And it does look surprisingly like you. And what does a dog know? Quote

redwing77 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 speaking of Dogs, and I know this one has been brought up before, but Sundogs is nice name. People would probably abreviate it and we'd just go by "the Dogs". I actually like it. Ok, Have at me. No one is going to "have at you" unless you are truly insecure. It's alright I guess. My father likes the UND Frontier... I told him why not make us the UND Fly Overs. The only certainty in the nickname world is that, whatever the nickname is, many won't like it. My biggest fear is that those who fought to change the nickname will try to take the lead in replacing the nickname. A win like this will inflate their sense of self-importance. Quote
Chewey Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 speaking of Dogs, and I know this one has been brought up before, but Sundogs is nice name. People would probably abreviate it and we'd just go by "the Dogs". I actually like it. Ok, Have at me. Ok, I'll have at you. It's a stupid name suggested by the same PC rejects (and I'm not suggesting that you're one of them simply because you like this particular abomination) that want to retire the present nickname. So, if the "Sundogs" nickname is selected, we'd be known as "the Dogs" like Duluth, Ferris State, SCSU, etc. etc.......Wonderful!!!!!! If the present nickname is ditched, the "North Dakota" is all we'll need and I bet Sicatoka would let the U use his avatar, for a small yearly fee, as a logo; it would look nice, I think. Why not let the sports teams serve as marketing tools for and make money off of the state identity itself rather than via some stupid replacement logo/nickname? Quote
The Sicatoka Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 speaking of Dogs, and I know this one has been brought up before, but Sundogs is nice name. People would probably abreviate it and we'd just go by "the Dogs". I actually like it. Ok, Have at me. Automatically disqualified because it's the name first brought up by BRIDGES. Next, do you know what a sundog is? It's a meterological sign that it is cold and going to get brutally colder. That would be stereotyping of North Dakota weather, and we all know that (as Ron White says) " ... stereotyping is wrong." Quote
