I posted the rosters and schedule in potential recruits for the USA Select 17's. Remember that four of our current recruits (Kristo, Fink, Gleason, and Cichy) will be participating this week. If anyone lives in the Twin Cities/St. Cloud area it is a good way to see some of these guys.

Brett Bruneteau, C -- Omaha Lancers USHL

Height: 5'11 Weight: 180

Drafted: 4th round, 108th overall

What Brett Bruneteau brings is not blazing speed or incredible size, but hockey sense and leadership. The US team captain in the Under-17 Five Nations Cup and grandson of former Detroit Red Wing Eddy Bruneteau, Brett has the determination and a sense for the game that could help him rise above the criticism he faces. Bruneteau will spend one more year in the USHL, then make his move to college with the University of North Dakota in 2008-09.

Jason Gregoire, LW

5'11 - 175lbs - Lincoln - USHL

24.02.1989

Selected 3rd round, 76th overall

Shortly after the Islanders selected Katic, they were up on the board again with the 76th pick, choosing left wing Jason Gregoire. Ranked by ISS at 147th overall, Gregoire was a surprise choice to many. However, the Islanders scouts were quick to point out how Gregoire really came into his own at the end of the season, scoring four goals in four playoff games for Lincoln. He showed a great deal of on-ice maturity during this time, especially following an ankle injury that kept him out for nearly half the season.

Gregoire is known for his quick hands. He can win one-on-one battles with relative ease and has shown the ability to work down low and around the net rather well. He's still many years away from being considered ready for the pros and will need to work a great deal on his defensive-zone coverage as well as his ability to win battles along the boards.

Gregoire represented Canada at the U-17 Junior World Cup, scoring four points (three goals) in four games. This past season, he registered 16 goals, 20 assists for 36 points and only 10 penalty minutes in 32 games played.

After day three at the Select 17's, Cichy leads all UND recruits with 5 points in 3 games. Kristo and Fink went scoreless today and Gleason still has yet to notch a point. I forgot to mention this earlier, but on day one Kristo and Fink were on the same line and Fink had an assist on Kristo's goal and vice versa. Good to see team chemistry already developing a few years before :silly: There is a day off tommorow and play will resume on Thursday, here are the top scorers for the camp after day three,

I posted it in the prospective recruits forum, but Gleason will be participating in the elite league this fall. There was some mention on this board earlier about playing in the USHL earlier and this pretty much means he will play for Edina. He will probably play in the USHL next spring and come to UND in 08.

another mistake as we all know he is coming in 2008, not this fall

Bradley Eidsness, G - 5th round, 139th overall

5'11, 190 pounds, (Okotoks, AJHL)

In the year of the Tier II draftee, No. 2 overall Kyle Turris had lots of company. Bradley Eidsness was the 12th goalie selected and the first Tier II goalie to get picked in 2007.

Going into the season, Eidsness had to compete for the starting goaltender position despite entering junior as the top goalie in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. Eidsness started slowly with an .835 save percentage in his first three games but rebounded to earn the Okotoks Oilers' top goaltending job and finish with a 2.87 GAA and a save percentage of .907.

Eidsness, a butterfly goalie with good rebound control, will join the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux in the fall.

With the "recruits" that Edina picked up this year, that team is going to be awesome...

Well the kids they got actually are from the Edina school district. One played private school for St. Thomas and one for private school Benilde St. Margarets. If it was a straight transfer they would have to sit out a year of hockey but since they are in the Edina school district it doesnt matter.

I thought the sitting out a year did not actually pass.

All of them are 90 birthdates and make the cutoff for next years draft, so all could be drafted next summer. As for order, it's way to early to predict that, much depends on what happens during their seasons and at the combine.

I love this:

Can anyone add any information besides what was in the Herald? How are coaches projecting him for this year? Is he comming into his own and ready for the WCHA or is he still developing. He seems to have been under everyone's radar. More info please.
