Teddy Mallgrave going from St Lawrence to Boston College gotta be a purely 7D/8D addition, right? He doesn't add any offense and barely played last year...

Castro & Pulver would be gone, potentially Hauser too if he doesn't want to tandem/compete for 1G. We'll monitor this to see if Cournoyer ends up at Wisconsin

Would be crazy to possibly drop the goalie that just led you to the national title game.
But I get it.  Hauser didn't look that great during the regionals.

I definitely saw him having a bigger role next year.  Unless he was told that there are some high-talent forwards coming in and he was going to continue on the 4th line, it does seem like a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.

On the other hand, his dad works in St. Paul, so his dad will be able to come to more of his games.

Where is he going?  I didn't see that he had a landing spot.

Crandell to CC

@Godsmack ASU fans were not happy he left

Every day that passes and I don’t see Max Burkholder or Mats Lindgren entering the transfer portal is a good day for me. As early as February, fan on GPL were name dropping Burkholder as a possible target.

Have to make room for the 1-2 yr players.

Sucks for sure.
Strathmann is a guy that probably could be on a pp unit somewhere.  But that opportunity wasn't going to come this year at UND.  But possibly for his SR season.
Klee and Littler...would have been great to hang onto at least one of them.  They would have had a chance to develop into great 3-4 yr players here.
We'll see what the staff can get in.

Feels like this is gonna be a never-ending cycle (not just for UND, but for all teams now).
The chances of getting someone like Dylan James who sticks around for all four years (and is talented enough to go elsewhere) are pretty low these days.

For sure going to be never ending but at least in hockey we are generally the beneficiary of the portal whereas football and basketball that is not the case.

Yeah there will be no end to the number of talented players that UND will be able to pick up out of the CHL and portal.

Two models to consider: A team can either emulate Denver & go for one first-rounder with the rest being very good 3-7 rounders (usually stick around 3-4 yrs); or one can be like Michigan & MSU and be drowning in 1st- & 2nd-rounders (usually 1-2 yr guys). The former owns college hockey & the latter consistently flame out in the postseason.

State flames out. Michigan usually gets to the Frozen Four before losing

Those models could be changing, as guys that used to stick around, don’t always do that now even if they are playing.  Hagen Burrows from Denver even entered the portal.  UND would have liked to see Klee, Littler and Strathmann give us that senior experience down the road, but they have different plans.

I see what you're saying about the DU model, but I think the main reason DU owns college hockey right now is that they get insane performances by their goalies at just the right time. Sick goalie + opportunistic goals = natty.
