Rumor is Denver for Boumedienne

Walking this back. A UMass reporter inferred Denver initially but it might be Ohio State as well. More likely Ohio State. Weird fit, imo.

Probably not a great strategy to have 6 of your 8 D be underclassmen

They’d be so skilled and fun to watch though

Depends on the remaining options in the portal.  Would rather have a defenseman with upside than just an upperclassmen to fill a roster spot.  Again, not sure the options in the portal that are out there.

Logan Britt is the type of player you want.

Agree, but not sure who that is.  Hopefully the coaches know who can add that value.

His name this year was Tyler Young.

Exactly. Trust your evaluations. Don’t look at point totals. You’ll find a veteran player that helps your team.

Felt like the team puckered up in the first period in Vegas which can be due to lack of experience and it cost them the game.

Looks like only 6-7 upperclassmen that played much are in the portal, and Max Rud from Minnesota wouldn’t do it for me above a Rudolph or other high end guy.

But they had a ton of experience on the back end with Zmolek, Liv, and Wiebe.  If our power play with those upperclassmen comes through, we win that game.  Agree that experience is needed, but tournament experience is needed too, and don’t see much in the portal that would do that as most are from Lindenwood, etc.  If there is a Britt there, the coaches would no doubt be exploring it.

If it is a wash between talent and experience, I take talent, as guys in the NHL with the North Dakota name beside them helps with future recruiting.

The players returning have more experience than the ones being added.

Can't remember where I heard this, they were either talking about rookies or new guys in the military going on their first combat patrols, the point is the same. At some point 2 months as a rooking or after 4 combat patrols you are no longer new. You are expected to know what you are doing.

So, the whole upper/underclassmen is a copout. Sophomores know what is needed and have the experience out there, the freshmen are going to figure out or not. This isn't youth hockey can't hold your hand and coddle you and that isn't happening at the next level.

All 6 played NCAA last year 5 know what it takes to win.

Agree. The experience/upperclassmen narrative is incorrect. Denver just won with mostly freshman and sophomores, and the UND championship team in 1997 was mostly freshman and sophomores, except the defensemen who were balanced with 1 freshman, i sophomore, 2 juniors and 2 seniors. Winning with underclassmen has been the most successful formula.

Yeah except their D core was 5 upperclassmen and 1 freshman…

UND has 2 sophomores and 2 juniors for next year--Laurilla, Verhoeff, Boser and Emery. What's your point?

It not like these guys (from the rumors of silent commitments) haven’t played in big games.  We’ll hopefully have a good chunk of players who have or will be WJ participants.  They’ve been playing elite, high pressure hockey for years.

Glad we want a team that is fun to watch instead of one that’s built to win a championship.

You don’t think that team could still win a championship?

What we really need is a weekly zoom conference where Jax and staff get a chance to hear our advice.  I’m sure they’ve never considered a lot of what we have to say.
