It was good because the competition was lesser the first half of the season. And this is a “what have you done for me lately” business. Always has been, always will be. Quote
F'n Hawks Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It has been said here many times already, but the biggest problem was the play calling on critical downs. How many times did that QB lead play not work in short yardage? How many times on 3rd and 4th and medium did we throw a low percentage deep ball? It also got a little predictable as the year went along. There are some personnel decisions that make no sense as well. Mainly, Ziebarth usage. Can’t believe he couldn’t find a way to get Fleming and Deng on the field together more. Xavier Leigh broke camp as RB1 somehow and got way too much run right away. And then he completely disappears, I think he was still valuable as a 3rd down back. Quote
shep Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I agree it’s what have you done for me lately, but I note the toughest games on the schedule were at K State and Montana early and they scored 62 when the QB was passing to his teammates and many or them NO complaints about OC Quote

The devolution of Jerry is like something I have never seen before - yet every game was the same - a big third down - hey let's throw long even though that has not worked once this season. Changes need to be made (not saying Schmidt - saying he has to be the one to make the changes). Agreed on all fronts. I had Jerry picked as the “most important player to his team “ earlier on. Well. Jerry ended up being one of unds biggest nemesis. Not sure he would have started for 3/4 of the fcs teams in the second half of the season. Yet OC wasn’t having it. He stuck with him and rode him to the end . Just an incredible display of arrogance and/or stupidity from Isaac? Quote
Oscar P Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago Tarleton is pretty good. Maybe consider that. Tarleton is a lot better football team than North Dakota. And Tarleton didn’t play that well today. Score should have been much worse. Not scoring 50 was a little disappointing. Your fans were nice though. Good group of people. 1 Quote

Hans8891 Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago I do believe we made major steps forward this year. Comparing the defense this year to last year is like night and day. I continue to believe we are headed in the right direction, regardless of a tough loss today. Tarleton is good. Defense played well enough to be in the game, in spite of losing probably our best player and being down to two freshman corners against a big play team scoring 50 points a game. Offense collapsed the second half of the year. I can’t figure out what happened to Jerry, but he was definitely not the same qb the last 6 games he was in the first y6 or 7. His decision making was bad and his accuracy was worse. Maybe getting film on him for the second half along with Isaac’s refusal to change any game plan ever was part of the difference, but he is certainly not the guy that is going to put the game on his back and go out and win a game. It would be so much fun to get a Brunsgard or Rittenhouse some time that you can hang a game on and he goes and gets it done. We just haven’t had that. With respect to Isaac, there just does not seem to be an ability to make adjustments - ever. It is ungodly predictable. He doesn’t use the weapons that we should be using, i.e. Deng and Ziebarth. 4th and inches and we absolutely have to run out of shotgun covering 5 yards and given the defense 2 seconds to react rather than just go up and get the inches we need. 4th downs we never run a play to get the first down. Instead, we call a home run play that we have not completed one of all year long - and yet continue to do so. Sawyer is clearly our best outside back, but we run him up the middle continually. Z is our best short yardage option but we run Sawyer up the middle instead. I just cant understand what he is thinking, particularly when it is shown over and over and over again it isn’t working. 4th and goal from teh 2 and we need to throw 3 times. I don’t claim to be a great football strategist, but I just don’t understand the offensive play calling. Going into next year, we need consistent qb play and better play calling to go to the next level - and a kicking game…. Happy with the move forward, but now we need to take the next step. 1 Quote

Good luck, but margin wasn’t that wide. UND played awful. Tarleton is a good squad, but certainly not much better than UND this season. Once again, good luck. 1 Quote
Longtime fan Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago In a very frustrating way it was funny that everyone here on siouxsports could call or did call nearly every play und ran. Even us boneheads had options or some different lineup personal or plays that maybe could change the stagnancy and nothingness. Isaac had no intention on changing. He was pounding a square into a triangle hole continuously. Not sure any of our ideas were going to work but at least try something different. 2 Quote

I know everyone here thinks they are the cream of the crop but they’re not. That was a lot of the issue this year. They never really got any push. Z is awesome but quite sure even Z couldn’t move the chains today. I do agree tho. He was given no chances . Just like the TEs that we supposedly have. The offense is just an absolute mess in every way 1 Quote
Parkers Pros Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago Toxicity aside on here this was a great 1st year for this staff. Defense wins championships and we have the best in the valley. We had listed safeties playing at our starting corners today and held that offense down. Our best defensive player was injured. For growing a program, this is a great place to build your foundation from. We have a great base of young offensive lineman that are huge. They can only get better. We have a great recruiting class coming in. We are a very young team overall and they have a chance to get back into the weight room and nutrition room and heal their bodies and make themselves better next year than they are this year and they will. Plus, you know they’re looking for guys in the portal to help fill some specific holes like some receivers that can flip the field to go with the ones that we have coming in. Coach has some difficult decisions to make. But I am confident they will be the right ones! 1 Quote
