Be easier for fans too.  Getting excited to recruit a player only to see he's not playing for 3-4 years is a bummer.  Even more so when they don't pan out, so much can change in that amount of time.

Such a good article. Really puts things in perspective. As good as 14-15-16 and even 17 year olds can be….things change. And when they do, it typically is a steep slope. Pushing the age back to say 17 (before sr year…although I would keep it to an age, not grade) would be beneficial for players and teams.

As Schloss states in his article, most teams are focusing more on the 2009 list (last years 20 Canadians to watch list) so I wonder if we are targeting any of these kids? Most specifically England (which we were rumored to be after) and Jacobson (who seems high end)? I think Cripps is certainly the highest priority target as well based on potential need like discussed previously.

Collegepucknxt says Thompson is tied to Michigan State, Minnesota, UND and Michigan.  Not sure if they are reliable or not.

They literally throw names at a wall, if someone mentions that player and a school, they will connect them

They have been called out before for just using schools that player follows on IG. That was their list. In Thompsons case, where they don’t have that info, pick a handful that would make sense logically.

In Thompson’s case he could wait it out (which is very smart from a player standpoint) or he could commit to UND if sitting on an offer. For most I’d recommend to wait, but in Thompson’s case he’s a bit different. With fairly heavy GF ties, that’s obviously different. Growing up in GF/attending UND and being die hard Sioux fans, there’s legacy type stuff involved with that which many other kids around the country don’t deal with. Similar to Thoreson, there’s something extra special about playing for UND (beyond purely development). 
 

You never know with 15-16 year olds however he’s been top of the crop since he was very young. Even if there’s fall off it’ll be mostly minimal given the 2 way game he’s got. It would be an important commit on multiple fronts.
