I haven't seen this anywhere and I'd be shocked if he leaves MN for anything other than the pros. Not saying it can't happen, but I've seen nothing to suggest that it might

Especially when a coach hasn’t even been named yet.

Would love the Ruck Twins. Clearing future roster spots means that Chyzyk/Jackson have to know that they're getting a couple high enders like the Ruck Twins, Carels, DuPont, Rudolph, Lin, etc. A productive offseason would be securing a minimum of 2 of them.

So the rumor around the World Juniors appartently was that UND had 2 pretty big silent commits playing. Carels is the most obvious guess as he has been linked here for quite some time and wasn't the other potentially a Euro forward? There weren't any forwards on Canada or USA that aren't signed or uncommitted so I thought the assumption was it could be one of the higher end Finnish or Swedish forwards?

IIRC, Lars Steiner from Switzerland

This is who the rumors were about, but he has since signed a contract to play for HC Davos next year. Now with the current state of the NCAA who knows how this effects his eligibility, but that aside, I'm guessing the ship has sailed on him. We're probably not getting a Swiss kid to play for us rather than his hometown professional team.

I think Steiner was definitely committed to us silently. The UND account didn’t “accidentally” begin following him like they do all their committed recruits. But obviously that changed once he got a contract in the Swiss league offered to him. Don’t blame him, that option likely wasn’t there when he committed to UND. Hard to pass up a pro contract in your home country.

Think Chyz and staff had plenty of good backup plans in mind thankfully. Who knows, they might already have a silent commitment lined up to replace him.

If you're right that's really disappointing. Love his game. Hard on pucks, responsible defensively, and super physical despite his stature. All of that to go along with a high end offensive game.

Still, the O'Neil and Pilgrim decommitments give me confidence that they've got some upper tier guys lined up.

Very similar game to Cagguila ironically. Sure that’s what Chyz thought when he saw him play

Agreed, for sure.
You don't tell those two guys to wait a year (and risk them de-committing) unless you have something already in place.

I agree. Or it could very well be similar to last year in that they're aware of the high-end players that will be/are available and haven't really even opened their recruitment yet as they are waiting for their CHL seasons to finish. I have not doubt we will be after these types even if it means pushing others back and potentially losing more.

Confident that Chyzyk has Plan A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, & J in place based on various end of season outcomes, players signing pro/coming back, portal losses, current committed recruits needing another year of junior or ready to come in a year early, and targeted recruits showing more or less interest in North Dakota than previously believed. Excited for it all. With CHLers NCAA eligible now, the player pool is so large that Chyzyk/Jackson should be able to land the players they want & feel best fit the program every year.

Does any D1 program have better connections to both western Canada and twin cities?

Nope, although I would say Denver is almost as good in Western Canada & have established very good connections in the Twin Cities recently. They're the only ones in the conversation.

Even though it will never be a core recruiting area, still wish North Dakota could be regularly in on players from east of Lake Michigan (Michigan, Ontario, Pennsylvania/New York/New Jersey, & New England specifically), especially now with the CHLers eligible and the potential to get some great players from the O
