Outside of Potter who was a transfer & not an original recruit of ASU, wondering if they will regularly get other 1st-rounders down the road. They don't have the draw of being an upper-class program with a storied history; & not familiar with their NIL financial specs or if they have an aggressive athletic dept. to haul in a Martone or Reschny.

They have Sun Angel Collective and the beer that part of the sales go to NIL. Was interesting seeing Dilly (football coach) basically saying/begging that they need to tap the rich people in the valley to donate to NIL.

Potter was not a transfer. He was a flipped commit, he wanted to play in the NCAA as a 17 year old, Michigan State didn't want to burn their bridge with the NTDP to bring him in, he looked elsewhere, Arizona State gladly took him.

So any Sioux fan who slobbers down a couple brewskies at one of their games is unknowingly enabling the recruitment of players there.

Will be interesting if they can land some big names on a regular basis down the road, or if they'll have a recruiting model more like SCSU or Mankato with solid players but not 1st rounders.

They're pretty obvious what the beer is for.

Devils Halo Amber, IPA, and Lager by Huss Brewing Co.

I think it's a great idea that UND fans would like.

This chart is crazy and disrespectful to the players who are actually currently in the program. How many “pegged bottom 6 guys” over the years have worked their ass off in the offseason and gotten better? Or when given the opportunity at a top 6 role ran with it? I can think of one this year in Ben Strinden who is now 2nd team all NCHC. I’m just saying don’t pigeon hole these players, there is a lot of skill in those bottom six guys.

I believe Kernan has shown he can contribute as a top 6 forward next year

Absolutely.

He may give Bryn and Co some flexibility to choose a younger player to come in and play center. They can play Kernan at 2C while a younger C adapts to college playing in the bottom 6. Similar to how Nelson did his freshman year.

Has anyone put together data on the amount of 5-on-5 ice time forward lines 1-4 have averaged per game this season?

is time-on-ice the primary value associated with “top 6,” or is that term just used to identify the six most talented forwards?

Specifically youth that isn't dominant all star talent right away. All of Amico (so underwhelming that he's back in junior), Murtagh, Fondrk, Trethewey, Vass have been disappointing in major part because they aren't elite & thus getting exposed. Boston University got so desperate that they had to bring Lawrence in early, and he's just been ok.

While some of the recent Michigan teams obviously didn't win the National Championship, a lot of their young talent was elite enough to come in as young freshmen and succeed to large degrees. Same goes for Celebrini, Cooley, Sanderson, etc.

Non elite junior players aren't good enough to come into the NCAA as 18 or even 19 year olds the vast majority of the time.

Most of those guys you mentioned were physically dominant at 14-15 so they were told they were going to be the best players. Things change, the game gets tough.

I didn’t realize how much McKenna plays..like 5 more minutes per game than our top guys.

He's out there for an entire PP most of the time.

Seriously? 6 more points and he finishes with as many points as Nick Schmaltz his freshman year. Already has 4 more goals.

I love Kernan, but that’s not a fair comparison. Schmaltz obviously had a much higher offensive ceiling, even though it took him a year to get there

Yeah there’s no way that’s the plan. It’s gonna be a CHLer or a transfer

No guarantee that even if you get the Rucks’ or Preston that they would be as productive as Kernan has been.  Wouldn’t surprise me if Kernan led the team in points per minute played since he doesn’t see as much ice time as some of the others, although penalty killing isn’t really a point producer for those that see extensive time at that like Reschny and Ollie.

Saw that recently too.

(Obviously its cherry picking) But if you take out McKenna's 8 point game where Ohio State decided not to play defense, Mckenna and Reschny more or less have the same "points per time on ice"

If Kernan is our 2C going into next year I will be very concerned

Really? What is that kid lacking that would prevent him from being a 2C? Wait, do you mean he should be our 1C, then I guess I could understand.

From a playmaking sense, Schmaltz is better. Better hands, better vision. With that said, Kernan has a better shot and is a better finisher, IMO.

I think 2C next year is where he absolutely should be, assuming he's developing in the offseason and takes a good jump in progression.

Does McKenna kill penalties?  Reschny probably spends more time killing penalties than anyone else, and doesn’t get to play the whole power play like McKenna does a lot.  If you measure situational productivity, Reschny would have more production.
