It’s not obvious to me. There isn't one. Some people just have a hard time understanding that their uninformed opinion is actually just that vs. someone who watches pretty much every practice and just relays what he sees. However it pretty amusing to make the leap and actually say out loud that to that Miller would have anything to gain by pushing for one player over another or the that a football staff worth anything would be swayed by that. 10 2 Quote

I also try to inform my readers on my blog in case they can't make it to a game or what such. Quote

Brim006 Posted yesterday at 03:08 PM Posted yesterday at 03:08 PM Listening to the OC talking on UND360 yesterday he made it very very clear that a mobile QB is a 100% must in the valley. He noted the success of the teams that have had that type of QB, year in and year out and there is no question that it is the answer to success. Between that strong opinion, and Schmidt brining JTJ with him, it seems they will give him the tie breaker assuming this 3 man race continues. 1 1 Quote

Agreed, the QB that can run best will be the starter...exactly what the OC said. 1 Quote

Currently he’s likely in 3rd place though, he needs to find a groove quick. His ceiling is likely the highest too which counts for something. Year one can be treated as almost a throw away for a new coach as they purge the roster and change schemes. I wonder if they will take a swing on potential and have him start and see how it goes. It’s an interesting situation. 1 4 Quote

It’s an interesting situation. If their planned guy is falling solidly into 3rd, turning it into a 2 man race, then the tie breaker scenario goes away and they have a hard decision to make. If it's a 3 way race with all 3 of them changing 1,2,3 essentially daily, then the tie breaker factor is a little easier for JTJ. Practice studs vs game time studs are always tough to gauge too, especially when only 1 of these 3 really has the evidence at this point. 2 Quote

forksandspoons Posted yesterday at 03:55 PM Posted yesterday at 03:55 PM “Three out of the four finalists in the FCS last season had a QB who can run.” - Freuchte Hard to argue with that. The thing is, those three QBs were accurate as well (Gronowski wasn’t as accurate last season as he was in the past) Quote

Gronowski lost his accuracy and that lead to their difficulties at the end last year. NDSU QBs have been accurate throwing the past 10 years and can run. Catch any preseason NFL highlights this week? I’d bet at the very least he would get a package. He was my pick to win the position based on not seeing anything going into spring. As of now my bet would be Jerry. 2 Quote

Nobody on here knows what the coaches are seeing or thinking or wanting. No need to make a snap judgement before the season has even started though. You're also not always paying someone to make the immediate impact, but rather saying we have to get through this season, do what we can with what we have got and think towards the future. 1 Quote

Assuming he can actually run. I remember hoping Q was going to have some running ability, but anything longer than the tush push and he moved like molasses. 1 Quote
siouxfan512 Posted yesterday at 04:19 PM Posted yesterday at 04:19 PM This is where you would like to get in a position where you can get more than one QB some game time experience. There are those guys that look one way in practice but can change gears and perform differently when they are in a true game time scenario. I don't know if that is true for our guys or not, but it would nice to see a few of these guys get decent situational reps. Quote

I haven’t seen enough to understand what the coaches have seen though. He looks the part out there but he misses some throws badly that he just shouldn’t. And yea, he looks good moving around and long enough that he could maybe Ben Roethlisberger a DL from time to time and make a big play for us. 1 Quote
