The frustrating part is UM and other big schools are distributing $20.5M per year due to the house settlement. At UM about $15M of that is going to football. Tough to compete against that if they really want a kid. I imagine NDSU thinks they are immune from this. I cannot wait to see and hear the weeping and gnashing of teeth in Fargo when it happens to them. Quote

There are certainly opportunities for more $, but it is not guaranteed. Minnesota is definitely not in the upper half of the Big 10. You sound like a goofer fan when not cheering for hockey. Fleck has definitely plateaued … above average salesman but very average football coach it appears. Wouldn’t trust his message ironically enough when it comes to being “Elite”… Yup. Gofes are essentially a top 5 - 10 FCS team most years. Seriously. 2 1 Quote

If they were smart they would put a lot of NIL into MBB, keep some of the talent that they have in state, and be a contender in the top of the Big 10 Quote

It's been reported that UM men's basketball had about $1.2M last year. $500k went to Dawson Garcia and the rest was spread around the roster. Also has been said that is why they couldn't compete - $1.2M is not enough which is crazy. I think Nico Medved was promised $5M for this year in NIL - not including the house settlement money. With the house settlement they have $20.5M extra from the school to spread among the sports. I don't think it is technically NIL but gets to the players similarly. Just under 75% of that to football, just under 25% to men's bb and a little to Volleyball, men's hockey and maybe women's bb. Quote
bubbaball69 Posted Monday at 07:28 PM Posted Monday at 07:28 PM I know we complain alot about our athletic department, but good god do some of these schools mismanage there departments Quote

There is a reason they quit playing NDSU in football. Doesn’t look good when you can’t control the line of scrimmage playing down a level. Quote

Menz at MN and Pietrzak at Nebraska both walked out of NDSU's fenced back yard for middle of the road Big 10 programs that they'd beat half the time on the field. It is what it is, some kids want bigger. Anyone can laugh at MN or any other B1G school all they want....it's a pretty easy decision. I mean there was 45K+ at the Bank for the Rutgers game (allegedly). Besides getting on the field faster....can't see anything wrong with it. If he hates his decision and hits the portal in 2 years will UND take him? Quote

But Minnesota or Rutgers, please. I don't see how getting the crap kicked out of you by THE Ohio State would appeal to anyone. Quote
Johnny Five Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I guess you could ask every recruit and current player on Illinois, Indiana (typically), Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue, Rutgers, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin about that. FCS teams beating out any B1G school has to be rare. Anyway...maybe Schmidt will be coaching him his SR year at Minnesota. Quote

A chance to play is why, 95% of these kids just want to continue to play ball. Quote

Seeing that MN will have an NIL fund of $15M for football this year - an average of $150k+ per player to spread around. Some will get more and most less but that is a big number to try to compete with and would appeal to most kids. 1 Quote
