So, stealing?  80-85% of the NCHC's subscription revenue goes back to the schools (or UND in this case).

Raising ticket prices for the product they are putting out there, now that's stealing, never mind the tax dollars they feel entitled to that they waste on goodness knows what pet project.

The market for products that are easily pirated shifted to a model that matched and exceeded the convenience of piracy. College hockey congregating on ESPN+ results in me no longer browsing forums that had collections of pirated links for games, for example. Netflix, Spotify and... whatever the video game equivalent is are more examples.  Getting mad about piracy is blaming the end user for the deficiencies of the providers. College hockey is too niche to be disjointed.

Great...You are a thief. I never want to hear you complain about how the production is done so cheaply at other schools.

Stealing is stealing. Any deficiencies the provider MIGHT have is negated once you decided to steal their content. By stealing it, you found that there is value in it because if it didn't have any value, you wouldn't have stolen it.

Sounds like this requires some outside-the-box thinking to come up with some creative solutions. A television presence for the NCHC is crucial to maintaining the viability of the league. If the member schools could put their heads together, I think they could come up with something that would benefit each of them and the conference as a whole.

So anyone who pirates a few games from CBSSN while subscribing to NCHC.tv for the rest of the season should face consequences for their actions?

Are you really trying to justify why you are a thief?

For the next two years, the NCHC could allow a company like Roku to simulcast some games or show replays on its "fast" channel in conjunction with better promotion of the NCHC app, by also listing the hockey games in their sports "on now" section.
