At least we had some fun this morning. Fully setting myself up for it to be Dane. Schlossman set the table. How incredibly disappointing. Hope for the best I guess. To be fair, can't be worse than Berry, so we do have that going for us.

I think why people will be disappointed if it is Dane isn't necessarily that its him but the fact that this job hasn't had a national search 30 plus years and the fans want a fresh set of eyes to lead the program. If it is Dane Jackson that is hired, I wish him the best of luck and will support him. Same with anyone else that is brought in. It is a sad time at the moment but it is also an exciting time to be a UND hockey fan.

If it ends up being Jackson, i guess the positive is he was an Assistant under Hak when the team never missing the NCAA Tournament.

I was hoping for someone not on the staff, but if it ends up being him I'm willing to wait to pass judgement.

If Raboin leaves Augie for Und he will surely bolt once the MN job is on the table.

Well then we get to go through this whole fun process again but with lessons learned hopefully.

I wouldn't be so sure. Wife is a UND grad. I think both sets of grandparents are in Detroit Lakes area. Sometimes that's a big deal with young kids.

Here's what I've been told.

Dave wanted to wait until after the NHL regular season to see if he'll land an NHL job, but the University didn't think that was an option. Dave has fully endorsed Dane. He's currently the frontrunner, but there is mutual interest from Blashill and another external candidate (hoping Raboin). If it's Dane it won't be what we want but he has had numerous opportunities to leave for the NHL w/ Dave and has stayed loyal to UND hoping that he would eventually get this job. I think Dane deserves a shot. I think all of the current players respect Dane and I don't think the transfers will be as bad if he gets it. Then the question is why they didn't just let Brad finish out his contract. 1. The off the ice issues and divided locker room were concerning. 2. What do you tell future recruits about the coaching if there isn't a deal in place knowing Brad's contract was going to expire. All things are pointing towards it being Dane.

If that's the case, to me it just means once again that they are just like the federal government and throw money around wildly, then ask for more, while continuing down the same path.

I would gladly eat crow on this but not what I wanted to hear. It all looks like the writing on the wall is Jackson will be named. If it’s between Blashill and Jackson I would rather it be Jackson.

If I am interviewing Dane Jackson my line of questioning would be:

"You coached under both Davee Hakstol and Brad Berry, can you concisely describe the differences in their head coaching and how you feel that impacted results?"

"You were associate head coach under Brad Berry, can you give me an example of what specifically you would've done differently in order to achieve better outcomes over the past 9 years?"

"It is becoming harder and harder to recruit in an era of NIL$ and investment in hockey by large Universities in the Big10 and HockeyEast, how will you approach recruiting in order to make UND a top destination for elite talent?"

"Have you given any thought into your staff and the organizational structure you will create to deliver results on the ice?"

"How will you reinvigorate a passionate fan base and alumni network through your approach to leading UND hockey?"

Should I forward this to Schlossman?

The current players opinions mean absolutely nothing.  They never should.  That is where AD's screw up.

Those current players are why we are in this mess to begin with.

So Dane isn't part of the culture that all of us have witnessed where half the team plays when they are forced to?   He is on the bench to, and you would think would be able to light a fire in the team.   Gino was  33ish when he took over.  Why not start fresh with someone who has that young enthusiasm.  When you are with a company or team for 20+ years, you lose some of that passion.

I think you can narrow it down to one player...

The divided locker room was on Berry and the Senior class? How he handled the 27 situation?

If you put it this way, I'm fairly optimistic. You get rid of Berry + the all-time worst Senior class. Bright days ahead for the program!
