If Brandon Boetcher flew someone to their preferred destination, should he be paid? No, you’d just make broad accusations about someone’s character, ability to pass the BAR, and having a criminal history because they ducked a minor cab fee in college - clearly the moral high ground, much better show of class and character right there. yzerman19 Posted Friday at 08:34 PM Posted Friday at 08:34 PM chippaz are now also very well aware of NIL...and the biggest chippaz know at age 15/16 that they can pick their schools for the most part. They want it all and a six (or even 7) figure NIL deal on the way to the NHL. Interestingly they see dev as their personal responsibility, but the coach's job to position them for success as an individual and a team on the way to the big contract. Elite scorers don't want to play a role and would rather go play a style than just play for a winner. 1 Quote
yzerman19 Posted Friday at 08:37 PM Posted Friday at 08:37 PM I think the change in the approach is really a big deal right now in hockey. With choices and portals and what not, the Chippaz are in charge, not the coach, unless the coach figures out how to work that psychology in the new word. 1 Quote

Popular Post yzerman19 Posted Friday at 08:39 PM Popular Post Posted Friday at 08:39 PM I will stand up for the character of Bryn Chyzyk. Silly mistake, drinking in college. Crucify him for life...please...while I think he might be a little green for head coach, I would love for him to be on staff to be groomed. 8 Quote

No way. We will also never know, because you don't bring forward things like that unless you want to get into lawfare and burn it all down. Nobody wants that. Yzerman19: thanks. I was hoping you’d respond. You, along with many others have the ability to take a step back. Look at things from many angles. Thats really the point. By all accounts he is a gem. But is it possible things went south in the last few yrs. I dont think any of us wants to burn it down. Please dont forget. You and i are on the same side. Im a brad berry guy too. Is it possible there’s more going on with this than we know right now? 1 Quote

Shawn-O Posted Friday at 08:55 PM Posted Friday at 08:55 PM Lot of chatter about the Denver job opening in a few weeks after David Carle leaves for the NHL. I think the North Dakota job is better. I’m biased that way. Quote

yzerman19 Posted Friday at 09:02 PM Posted Friday at 09:02 PM Carle makes $750k at DU...I think a young head coach in the NHL would be lucky to hit $2M... 1 Quote
yzerman19 Posted Friday at 09:04 PM Posted Friday at 09:04 PM while i agree our program should be more prestigious...Denver is a major city and will likely be a more desirable location for top talent. I have not heard that Carle is trying to go to the NHL, but that means nada. Quote

Then teams that load up on these guys will have trouble winning in March and April, as you need a total team effort in the playoffs. Also, the chippers will be around only one or two years before the NHL dangles those ELC's in front of them, so you'll be trying to win with freshmen and/or sophomores, who are notoriously inconsistent until they get used to the speed and size of the college game vs. Juniors. Denver has always been a major city and more desirable in some respects than Grand Forks, but it hasn't stopped us from building championship teams. We need to focus on things we can control and location is not one of them. 1 Quote

These guys don't want teams to load up on them...they want 2-5 or so...you run into one puck issues otherwise. Now the NIL $ could be bigger than the guaranteed money in the ELC, which could keep people around a bit longer. That's definitely playing out in the big money college sports. Quote
