mygarske Posted Thursday at 12:09 AM Posted Thursday at 12:09 AM Sort of back on topic, read a while back on one of the 25,000 posts here that former Sioux player Brad Malone was a name being considered for the offensive coaching position. Any new update on him? He would complete the Canadian-only coaching model. 🇨🇦 And at least he's been a head coach, sort of.... https://chl.ca/ohl/article/generals-relieve-steve-orourke-of-head-coaching-duties/ 1 Quote

Any new update on him? Yeah he was mentioned in Schloss' article about potential candidates from last week. I think the only knock on Malone would be that maybe he lacks a bit more experience that they might be looking for as the associate HC. We'll see though. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/who-could-be-candidates-for-unds-open-associate-head-coaching-position Quote

You don’t understand that NIL was just a way to trick the NCAA committees into allowing it to happen. It was always meant to be pay for play and we are a few months away from that being reality. (To answer your question, at most schools, they have a set of standards the athlete has to abide by to keep getting paid by the collective. It’s not all commercials and appearances.) The NC$$ has ok'd pay for athletes directly from the school they attend. A full ride isn't enough. NIL isn't enough. Now schools will be spending your money to pay athletes. I f'ing hate the state of college athletics right now. 7 Quote

It's supposed to start in the 2025-26 season. Of note: "In one of the more controversial aspects of the settlement, all NIL deals with third parties over $600 are set to be approved by a new clearinghouse administered by the consulting firm Deloitte. Some agreements deemed not fair market value will enter into an arbitration process. That has resulted in a slew of dealmaking this month between schools, third-party collectives and numerous high-profile players to get things over the line before they would be required to submit their deals to the clearinghouse." The Sicatoka Posted Thursday at 12:13 PM Posted Thursday at 12:13 PM What you folks are discussing is what's referred to as the "opt in" settlement numbers. It's effectively profit sharing by the athletic department with a cap limit. What many will soon learn is few athletic programs show profit. Quote

Maybe Croal will get more time now instead of us hearing excuses as why Montgomery dressed instead of him. Trying to catch up posts, good to see some movement on adding players. Wondering if we have 100% confirmation on the handful of recruits we have coming in that they are definitely coming in? Maybe they are waiting for their league season(s) to end, or for the hockey program to make the announcement - but haven't read anything here or social media posts from the players. Since they can't enter the transfer portal I get it's hard to track. Thanks for any update. Quote

I haven't seen much posted, which I guess isn't completely out of the ordinary for incoming recruits unless they change. Only two I've seen are Bumgarner, which sounds like it was Jax cutting him loose rather than him changing his mind...and then McKamey posted the story about Jax being hired on his IG story, so would assume he's still on board. 1 Quote

I've heard everything is top tier. You're treated like professionals there. I'm really excited." Rickwood also won 57.5% of faceoffs last season.
