Yep.  If Miami and UMD (and SCSU to a degree) win a few more games UND would have been playing this weekend.  UND should have won a few more, but the NCHC out of conference record did us no favors.

10 of UND’s 21 wins were against CC, Miami, SCSU, and UMD.  Yes, they beat the teams that they should have, but that’s 11 wins against everyone else!

On GPL they are saying that the referees are being changed out for Saturday’s game. Can anyone substantiate that?

They probably have 3 sets of refs there

You love to spin things to support your narrative. Taking your argument to its logical extreme, 10 of your beloved BU squad's wins were against Holy Cross, Union, Merrimack, Vermont, Lowell, Notre Dame and Northeastern. That is 12 wins against everyone else! Oh, and they got boat raced 7-2 by UND and beat UND 4-3 in a game that UND predictably gave away.

Since he posted the whole play, there were 4 Gophers back (one costing on the back check). Don't blame the refs when you could have still prevented it.

If Moore had hustled back and not coasted into the play he would have easily broke up the play when the puck carrier crossed over to his right.

Bad losses hurt more than good wins help.  That’s the Pairwise Rankings in a nutshell.

I have never dove into the pairwise system, and other than a common refrain "kratch is better" that used to be viewed alot, I have no knowledge how things should be adjusted.  I am grateful that it is not "smoke and cigars" situation, and enjoy the pairwise chatter as the season winds down.  And no I don't think our team deserved to be on the ice with what I have seen so far this year.

And if you compare PWR and KRACH from this season I think they were closer to each other than they typically are.  KRACH has also favored teams in a conference that has the best out of conference record, and NCHC has benefited in the past in that ranking and in PWR, but this year the conference was down relative to HE and B1G.  Before the season one couldn't easily predict that happening but everyone goes into the season knowing you need to win the games you should and bad results can bite you in the ass at the end.  UND has lived it so many times that you'd think the coaches would be beating it into the boys' heads from the first practice on, but it doesn't seem to sink in until it's too late.  I spoke with a couple of players at the Champions ball a few years ago and at that time they didn't seem to really have a good grasp on PWR and it's implications.  I would never expect them to understand the intricacies of it all but if the coaches aren't hammering home that they need to beat the likes of BSU and RMU and losses to them can be really bad come tourney time, then that's a coaching fail.

Have heard that as well from a very good source.

Must be considered an emergency as they are bringing in NCHC crew despite WMU being in the game.

One of the officials in Gopher game was ECAC and the other official might have been ECAC but he was on Hockey East roster in 23-24. The Mankato/WMU game was Hockey East officials so they would not be working the Mass/WMU game so it might be that they considered the officiating in the late game especially bad....although I think the crew in the first game was much worse overall.

RE: UMass/Goldie

I think Chesley (?) got too far over his edges expecting more contact from the UMass guy than he got.

But what cost them is "Holy Cross 2.0" -- count the guys coasting, not busting it, back into the defensive zone. Just like against Holy Cross..

That's what I saw. Along with Snuggles watching the puck instead of his opponent at the back door.
