This tournament is the "top division".
Someone (assume AUT or LAT) will be relegated to "Division IA" and Norway has earned the right to play "top division" in 2024

This link defines the six tiers of IIHF Juniors play: Top, IA, IB, IIA, IIB, and III.

As the tiers drop, what do they look like? Would IB look like the MN HS AA tourney? Would III look like late night UND intramurals?

Does someone have a "____ tier would look like _____" reference?

Tier III would look like co-ed broomball.

Closing out Dec 29:

CAN 11-0 AUT final

Connor Bedard with another WJC run-of-the-mill two goal, six point night in the win. I think Mr. Bedard needs to get a pilot's license and a university degree and I know just the place ... :D

The AUT "given up unanswered" in this tournament now stands at 31. (11, 9, 11).

What to look for today:

Group B:
SVK gets one point they send LAT to relegation round.
If LAT wins, SVK needs two points vs SUI Saturday to avoid relegation.

Group A:
Under the assumption that GER loses Sat in regulation to CZE (because CZE will be playing for top 2 seeding) ...
The AUT-GER is basically loser goes to relegation round.

Will Austria score a goal today?

Bedard is the best (most dynamic) prospect I have ever seen.
