Contracts can ALWAYS be renegotiated, especially when HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars are involved. Rea/Kem and even UND have at least *roughly, 12 years to devise, plan and strategize a new contract.. or not. But most likely, some sort of renegotiation will happen, and I just do not beleive UND will get the Ralph. Maybe I'll be wrong. But that's my belief.. Believe what you want, the lease and everything related to it is all public information and clearly states that ownership of the building will convert to UND no later than 9/30/30. Yes, it can be renegotiated but it will have nothing to do with what KEM/REA think or what kind of plan they can come up with. Without UND making the call, they have absolutely zero power to stop the change in ownership. And while I think they should find a way to extend the lease, why exactly would UND be looking to do that with a partner who hasn't listened to input on what they have to say, threw a fit in the media when they tried to renegotiate an annual contract that appeared one-sided and had publicly stated she wants no part of a relationship with the school.

Take your own advice and understand the power of the dollar. UND has all the leverage come 2030. They may renegotiate with the REA but I can guarantee that it won’t benefit the Engelstad foundation.

IF a lease is renegoitiated, the only leverage miss Garry will a say in will be what beer is sold in the concessions.
