BobIwabuchiFan Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Pretty impressive feat by the team across the Red River...Always awesome to see an out-state, small town public school play some awesome hockey in St. Paul this time of year!!! Can you imagine the anguish of Hermantown...wow...6 times in a row... BobIwabuchiFan Quote
Vegas_Sioux Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 As someone who played for the Pirates it's hard to watch egf bring the title home warroad im fine with, and could live with TRF. But egf that's hard. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Can you imagine the anguish of Hermantown...wow...6 times in a row... Jim Kelly and Andre Reed can probably identify pretty closely. Quote
siouxkid12 Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Fire Hak. Hire Palascino? Simple question. more like a stupid question Quote
Cratter Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Tylers got coaching and Sioux hockey in his blood. Not only won a MN hockey championship in second year (egf first) but did it back to back. He also played for both Hakstol and Blais. Hes a quickly rising star in the coaching ranks. Blais and Palmiscino have won MN HS hockey titles as head coaches. Hakstol has never been been on any championship team (joining UND after the 2000 natty) after finishing his head coaching record of 101-109 in the ushl. Quote

With that logic you might as well hire scott oliver..... Quote
SiouxScore Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Legit chance of 3 peat? Looks like they will return 5 forwards and 2 defensemen who played pretty regularly but lose 11 seniors including 3 goalies and I'm not sure what they have coming up. As long as Loven and Tweten don't go to juniors next year though they will still have probably the top 2 forwards in the section and the top defenseman as well in Selk and I think 8A will be pretty open next year so they could at least get back down to the X. BobIwabuchiFan Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 I think goal tending will be the big question mark for EGF if Tweten and Loven stay next year...I think many people thought there wasn't a really good chance with EGF getting back to the Championship game this year without the defensive group they had last year, but coaching does play a big factor in the kids development and the team was solid when it really needed to be. I really enjoyed hearing the homer announcers keep asking when the drought is going to end for Hermantown...Talked incessantly about Hermantown with little recognition of a very good EGF team playing right in front of their noses...My 2 cents. BobIwabuchiFan Posted March 9, 2015 Author Posted March 9, 2015 By the way homer announcers, Dixon Bowen is going to be playing for the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux!!! The two guys from Hermantown going to MN already know what chokin' is about and that's why Lucia goes after them.... Quote

None of the players on Hermantown's team this year are committed yet but there are some good prospects. Bowen was the only Class A player in the tournament committed to a college. Quote
dagies Posted March 9, 2015 Posted March 9, 2015 Curious if Bruce Plante is a good coach (6 straight title trips) or a bad coach (6 straight title game losses). Does he get credit for getting there? Or is he the reason they've never won? Quote

Or is he the reason they've never won? He won it all with Hermantown in 2007. 4 of those 6 straight losses in the championship were to private schools. Tough to knock a small-town coach for losing to private schools from the Cities that recruit. The other two were against really good EGF teams. Quote

This is a nice answer to anyone that claims there is absolutely, positively nobody else in the whole wide world that could lead UND Men's Hockey to greatness but Dave Hakstol. If Hakstol was to ever leave for an NHL coaching job or something similar (Team Canada?), I think Palmiscno would definitely get some consideration with the job he has done in EGF (especially this year). 1 Quote
