fightingsioux4life
well that's a pathetic way to lose a tie game. The shootout in general is pathetic. But according to Hak, Montreal Canadiens fans like it so we are supposed to like it too. I have no problem settling for a tie in a league as tough as this. That would be better than deciding precious league points via a cute little skills competition.
willythekid
Well, another lesson of too little too late. Lazy, sloppy play in the second kept them out of this one. Parks should be ashamed of himself for taking that dumb penalty and then even worse, taking the rest of the shift off.
Cratter
Shootout has to go to advantage Omaha with their goalie having better numbers. Nailed it.
siouxweet
I'm surprised people don't get the overtime rules for NCHC league games. Win in regulation is 3 points. Tie is a point for each team, with shootout to follow. Shootout winner gets the extra point. Game is a tie for pairwise purposes. Points are for NCHC standings. UND just tied Omaha in the all important Pairwise rankings. I know but having anything determined by a shootout is pathetic.
cberkas
They are ahead of UND in the conference. Omaha is still behind UND in the conference. Omaha has only made the NCAA's once since Blais became the coach.

Cratter
Omaha is still behind UND in the conference. Omaha has only made the NCAA's once since Blais became the coach. Only cause UND has played more games. Its called Parity. Its what causes teams that have never sniffed a championship to get one. Yale, Union. UNO. scpa0305
Schlossman said Omaha gets the extra point, though ..So how many pts does each team get? Really?
OETKB
The difference in this game ( and Hak agrees) was the weak-ass shift after the 1st goal, where they handed a goal to UNO. You can't give up such a weak one after working so hard to get ahead,

Cratter
I have no problem with shootouts. I DO have a problem with sucky home records. Everyone hates shootouts when you lose. Love em when you win. Its only for conference rankings. So whats it matter? You need to crown a conference champion somehow.

fightingsioux4life
But the casual fan LOVES shoot-outs...right? And the "casual fan" would probably love to decide basketball games with a slam dunk contest or baseball games with a home-run hitting contest. But that doesn't change the fact that they are exhibitions of individual talent being used to decide the outcome of a team game. And that is why the shootout has no place in hockey.

OETKB
To clarify my take on tonight, UND looked pretty good, except for that shift after the 1st goal. And, my point tonight is....UND needs to have a dominant home record, and that is NOT happening so far this year.

Cratter
You must be loving shootouts tonight then. Cause I actually watch college hockey? Sometimes without green glasses. Did you see all the people that think UND is world beaters because they have a 2 by their name? And Omaha is a "crappy" team despite having less losses than UND does.
