siouxfaninseattle Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 The mayor is an absolute idiot. This will push back NBA and NHL in Seattle for many years. Read the comments after the article and you will understand why. Key arena is NOT an option for pro sports. http://mynorthwest.com/438619/seattle-mayor-makes-big-keyarena-announcement/ 1 Quote

Even though he couldn't care less about hockey, it could get the arena built, which in turn would lead to the NBA returning to Seattle. And getting Russell Wilson on board was a smart move. Quote
SiouxVolley Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Seattle may be the only American city the NBA would expand to. The NHL would expand to Seattle as soon as a viable arena is built. If an arena is actually built, it's only a matter of time for both leagues. Quote
cberkas Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I know everyone one up there wants the Sonics back, but I still don't think the NBA will have a team there any time soon. Quote
siouxfaninseattle Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 They may not expand to Seattle, but the next team to be sold most likely will end up in Seattle. David Stern is gone, no? Quote
sioux rube Posted December 24, 2016 Posted December 24, 2016 Franchise record 10 wins in a row after putting up 7 goals against the Blue Shirts and winning 7-4. That is impressive as hell beating 2 of the top 4 teams in the East on back to back nights on the road. Incredible run. Quote

SiouxVolley Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 With the San Diego Chargers moving to LA, that means San Diego is the biggest city with only a single pro team. There is a lot of corporate dollars that wants more. Wouldn't be surprised if San Diego investors get serious about an NHL team. Just an new arena would need to be built, and San Diego could jump ahead of Seattle for an NHL team. Look for Spanos to rename the team as Southern California, rather than Los Angeles. An LA name would totally irk remaining San Diego fans, who can drive to the 2+ billion Inglewood Rams Stadium for games. Quote

Next year there will be 31 NHL teams. 8 in the Metro, 8 in the Atlantic, 8 in the Pacific(with Las Vegas), and 7 in the Central. Finding a team for the Central Division would be the next natural choice to even everything up. Sure San Diego is an option, but if they got an NHL franchise, than Denver would most likely have to move over to the Central. Quote

The York Islanders moved from Nassau County to Brooklyn and lost a TON of their season-ticket holders - and that's only about an hour away. I don't see many folks in San Diego making the 2.5 hour drive north (with no traffic) to LA eight times a year. Quote
