runaroundsioux
Just watched BU v. Harvard on NBC Sports.Wow,just wow. Harvard beat BU 6-5 in OT after being down 5-3. But the wow is for NBC Sports. This was NHL production quality with college hockey atmosphere. They mic'd the ice, they mic'd the crowd, they mic'd the band. It sounded like a Final 4 basketball game with the band loud and clear at every break, you could hear the sticks and puck and crowd moan and cheer with every play.ATMOSPHERE! I hope Midco and Dan Hammer were watching.Doc Emerick gave major props to college hockey, He is the consummate professional. If somehow the powers that be could get NBC to do a college hockey game of the week it would do more to promote the game than anything.
Big A HG
I agree. NBC is killing it for all the sports they cover in my opinion, whether it's college hockey or the NFL.

Frozen4sioux
I have been screaming this for a long time now...more and more people are really seeing the difference in the quality of the production that is done by the current midco/hammer failathon and what other college hockey has the benefit of being exposed with. The signing of the deal that literally BARS a quality telecast of the program should be a fireable offense . Many fans can not tell the difference and are blissfully ignorant of the quality and presentation. But what will matter is that the exposure, nationally of the program has taken a monumental shift in reverse, and in the next year there simply will not be a national exposure for the program, however there WILL be national exposure with QUALITY productions available to other teams either through their own doing, their conference, or by a NBCSports.....which will be barred from showcasing the Ralph, the program or UND. Think about it you're a high school prospect kid from someplace that sees a Minnesota, BU, Notre Dame,. And others with awesome national exposure in glorious HD.....then if they would care to pay $70 or so they coud maybe get a flickering buffering feed from the Ralph with some yahoo blurting out "one-timer" everytime somebody passes the puck. Which would impress you.

Siouxperfan7
Why would a kid that has NHL potential choose to go to a school based on Television exposure? Any kid that is going to be a great player is drafted before they even come to college. It's not like going to a school that is going to play on national television is going to improve their stock with the NHL team that drafted them. Theses kids choose a school based on the coaches and how well they can develop for the next level. Sure there are some kids that will probably never play in the NHL and want to go to a place where they can be on TV. But when talking about the elite hockey players in the country....the ones that UND has successfully recruited....want to go to a place where they can develop their skill and is the right fit for them that can prepare them to eventually play at the NHL. When you look it at that way...UND definitely has a great reputation for doing just that. that is going to get the top players in the country to play here. Not having 4 or 5 or their games on NBC Sports.
runaroundsioux
I didn't mean for this to be a Midco sucks thread.(although they kinda do) Midco is what we have so we have to deal with it. They could learn alot from NBC. Get rid of the Midco backscreen with Hammer and Scott (refuse to say KOBBER) standing in front and show the glorious Ralph in the background during breaks. Improve the sound so we can hear the crowd and the band better, again, ATMOSPHERE .IF they get HD and IF they improve the game atmosphere it will get better. Having NBC nationally televise college hockey on a regular basis may be alot to hope for with the NHL back, talk is cheap it takes money to buy whiskey. AZSIOUX
UND should have a handful of games in NBCsports. No doubt about it. UND will be ok on the recruiting front . Sorry that isn't a issue in college hockey because its such a small market anyhow for who is actually watching these games.

Frozen4sioux
HD is not the problem with the Midco broadcast.it is needed, but its not the real issue. You can polish a turd, it looks better, but its still a turd.

Handsome Rob
Has anyone noticed that the replays that are shown on the UND Sports Extra show are in HD?
SiouxTupa
A separate camera person shoots the game and the highlights come from that footage. The highlights don't come from the broadcast.
ringneck28
I have said that hammer is nothing but a high school play by play guy for years. This is a prime case of it is not who you are, but who you know. There are much better play by play announcers available, they just didn't look. It's not even that they didn't look, they interviewed people and they told them no and went with the FargoFailure. The people they did not give the job to we're MUCH MUCH MUCH more qualified, and wanted the job.
