MafiaMan Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Can you blame Michigan Tech for being upset with what has transpired over the past few months? I really can't. Quote
Vegas_Sioux Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Can you blame Michigan Tech for being upset with what has transpired over the past few months? I really can't. You can't a founding member of the wcha who stayed when the rest of the Michigan schools formed the cup cake now gets shut out. But like its been said before UND doesn't need to be the abbey for the sisters of the poor. Quote
Goon Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 More UND hating form WCH. Last time I check UND didn't hold a lot of power in the WCHA. Bemidji State is in a particularly precarious position because they're bound by a 20-year lease to the newly built Sanford Center. The Sanford Center was probably a little too big and expensive for a program the size of Bemidji State to handle financially, but it was the type of arena schools like North Dakota and Denver demanded they get in order to join the WCHA(and subsequently save their program), shortly before those schools stabbed them in the back by leaving to form their own conference. With the brand recognition of their competition dropping significantly next year, it seems very likely to see the trend of decreasing revenues to continue. Quote

SiouxScore Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 That's a good point... Also, UND was playing MSU-M and BSU long before others in the WCHA were. I believe UND was actually one of the biggest suporters and really helped get Bemidji St. into the WCHA. 3 Quote

jodcon Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Somebody's mad, wow http://www.mininggaz...e.html?nav=5062 There will still be a WCHA next year. And Mich Tech will have a legit chance to make the NCAA Tourney for a change. The world is not ending. 1 Quote

mhag616 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Can you blame Michigan Tech for being upset with what has transpired over the past few months? I really can't. Not really but they left the WCHA at one time also. Lets not forget that Brandon Veale's beloved, can do no wrong Huskies (who are getting picked on by big bad UND) left for greener CCHA pastures from '81-84. Just because they came back does not make them better then anyone else. Change happens. You man up, take if for what it is and focus on the next games. Does not matter what your conference affiliation is when you hoist a National Championship. Quote
Boy Named Sioux Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 It' OK with me for these teams (fanbases) to hate ours ... it helps add some fuel for our ass-kickin machine, and makes for some good message-board fodder. But jeebus, they should at least try and motivate their fans to hate us by honest means. Maybe try some logic and reasoning. Or...just make something up completely: "Hey, make sure you make it to the games this weekend against UND... word has it they are all descendants of Osama Bin Laden and are planning to steal our Christmas presents on the way out of town!" But using some half-truths and conspiracy theories... I doubt their fans will fall for it. BTW Brandon: once it was apparent there was a NEED to form a new conference and the membership was being determined...most Sioux fans were lobbying for MTU over St. Cloud. Most MTU fans probably already know that, and they probably know that UND really isn't the reason for your "problem". But, carry on ... we can always use more fuel for the ass-kicker. Quote

Yea, Michigan Tech had every chance to go back to the CCHA when Northern Michigan left and they chose to stick with the WCHA. It would be a shame for the new-look WCHA to struggle attendance-wise and revenue-wise - even worse if some schools decided to 86 hockey altogether. Quote

MafiaMan Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 BSU, MTU, and Mankato are trying to run with the big dogs but are still pissing like a puppy. Wow, that's an educated post. Those schools doing well would be beneficial for ALL of college hockey. If you want to start weeding out the Bemidjis, Mankatos, Lake States, etc., college hockey will become an even smaller niche market than it already is. Quote
