dmksioux
Looks as though the Sioux women will also be on the road for their first game. They will be playing at Seattle U. on Thursday. At first glance, this game would seem to be winnable for the ladies. Good luck! http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/231926/group/homepage/
Smoggy
Anyone have info on the bid? I was really hoping to go to this.
ND Ball
Considering that the UND Athletic Administration didn't bid for the Great West Conference Tournament which would have been for both the men's and women's games, they probably don't have an interest in hosting a game. If they did bid and didn't get it - their bid probably wasn't very good. Too bad for the basketball fans as it seems they have always supported the playoff games in the past - something the administration evidently doesn't recognize. gfhockey
Also would have been for sure genes last game. Epic fail on Faisons part
nodakvindy
Here is the bracket. UND got no love in the seeding, probably due to the general weakness of the Great West. http://www.womensbasketballinvitational.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/2012Bracket.pdf On the tourney web site it says higher seeds always host, so I'm not sure a bid was even possible. Looking at the bracket, it would be awesome to see a North Dakota-Minnesota final.
dakotadan
Looking at the bracket, it would be awesome to see a North Dakota-Minnesota final. That isn't very likely to happen. Minnesota is in the east region with Holy Cross.

bincitysioux
That's a bunch of B.S. Seattle averages 600 for home games..........................
82SiouxGuy
Also would have been for sure genes last game. Epic fail on Faisons part From the web site. UND is an 8 seed so they never got a chance to host. Can teams bid for home games? No, teams cannot buy home games. The higher seeded team always gets the first chance to host. dakotadan
Leave the facts at the door. It is more fun to continuously try and blame Faison and Kelley for everything bad in the world.
ND Ball
Look at the seedings and who hosted last year - on WBI website Several teams with lower seeds hosted the games...................
ND Ball
Forgot one more thing..........There is no blame here - just FACTS The information from the Great West Conference is that the reason UND was not awarded the Great West Tourney is they DID NOT bid it - simply put. The Sicatoka
Look at the seedings and who hosted last year - on WBI website Several teams with lower seeds hosted the games................... And tournaments can change policy, can't they?
MoSiouxFan
After finishing with a 12-game winning streak, perhaps the Sioux deserved a little higher seeding. Hopefully, however, this will motivate them to prove that they deserved a higher seeding.
82SiouxGuy
Look at the seedings and who hosted last year - on WBI website Several teams with lower seeds hosted the games................... And the WBI website says that the higher seed gets to host if they want this year. If they don't want to host, the lower seed can host. UND is a number 8 seed playing a number 1. This year all hosts are the higher seed except one. Don't know anything about hosting the Great West. UND bids on hosting a lot of tournaments, but not all. I don't know why they may not have bid on this one.
UND92,96
I wonder if the teams were actually seeded based upon anything other than maybe throwing darts at a board? I don't see much of a difference between the resumes of UND and Seattle.

bincitysioux
The Sioux fell tonight to Seattle, ending Gene Roebuck's career as a head coach at North Dakota. Thank-you Gene, for your devoted service to this fine Univeristy...............
darell1976
Thanks Gene for your dedication to UND athletics, and bringing home back to back to back National titles!!! I was at the one in 97 at the Hyslop the atmosphere was electric. UND's first National Title in basketball and it was an incredible site. Couldn't have done it without a great coach. Enjoy retirement!! You will be missed.
