Four added to 2012-13 women's basketball roster

University of North Dakota head women's basketball coach Gene Roebuck and his staff announced today that commitments have been received from Josephine "Joise" Dillon (Plymouth, Minn.), Ellen Kiser (Juda, Wis.), Katie Klapprodt (Rapid City, S.D.), and Emma Weinreich (Pismo Beach, Calif.) to join the Fighting Sioux for the 2012-13 season.

Roebuck has had success bringing in small quick guards:

Klapprodt’s final decision came down to UND for basketball or SDSU for soccer. Klapprodt, a 5-5 guard who was an honorable mention all-Greater Dakota Conference selection as a junior and an all-state soccer player as a senior, said her official visit to Grand Forks, N.D., made the difference “I’ve always wanted to play Division I basketball,” Klapprodt said. “It’s so exciting and it just means the world that I get to go play.”

JUDA - Ellen Kiser has dreamed about playing college basketball for a long time, and the Juda senior will get a chance to do just that after signing a National Letter of Intent Wednesday to play Division I basketball at the University of North Dakota. Kiser is the first athlete in the history of Juda to sign a Division I scholarship.

Ties run deep with latest Sioux commit

UND women’s basketball coach Travis Brewster goes way back with his latest women’s basketball recruit.

Way back.

DeLaSalle senior Mia Loyd said the first year head coach used to babysit her when Brewster and her dad Curtis played professionally together in Switzerland.

Curtis Loyd is now an assistant for the women’s basketball team at Minnesota. He previously had stints at Virginia and Akron.

“He’s known me my whole 18 years, I guess,” Loyd said. “That made the decision easier for my parents, too. They trust him a lot, obviously.”

Erin O’Toole said the moment was an incredible one after all the hard work she’d put in. O’Toole played a key role on a team that won two consecutive state championships. But she said signing day was particularly special because she wasn’t always a standout player.

"Oh my god, it's amazing," O'Toole said. "I went from being the fat, chubby kid that no one wanted to right now. It's amazing."

Freshman guard Makailah Dyer has informed University of Wisconsin women's basketball coach Bobbie Kelsey she has decided to transfer.

“She wanted to pursue an opportunity to have more playing time, to get more playing time,’’ Kelsey said Tuesday. “But it would be very difficult here because she is at a position where we have five other people. It wasn’t anything personal.

“The kids (on the team) loved her. She loved being in school here. But she wants to play.’’

Welcome Makaliah! (Troy Huff's cousin) Could use her right now.

Bailey Strand from a Senior to be at Fergus Falls, MN has committed to the UND Women's BB team.

She sounds like a nice addition--averaged over 19 ppg as a jr. and was named to the class AAA all state team by the MN Girls Basketball Coaches' Association. This site had her as the number eight prospect in the class of 2014, although it was from last summer: http://mock-draft-20...ings-2014s.html

I was able to see many of Brianna's games, from 8th thru 10th grade. I believe she started in 8th grade on varsity. Very smart and could create and dish or score if needed. She reminded me a lot of Crookston's Kamille Wahlin at the same level, like a coach on the floor. Kamille had a pretty nice career at Iowa. Brianna would look nice in UND green too!

Fergus is loaded with the younger Monke girl also a senior at about 6' 3" and very talented. Her older sister plays at Wisconsin Green Bay. I talked to some Fergus friends who said both Rasmusson and Monke have been getting looks from D1 schools.

Number 19 recruit in Minnesota according to this. Tied with teammate Brianna Rassmussen - wonder if UND will get both?
